It is unacceptable for our military who are bravely serving abroad, to not have their votes counted. Today the Senate passed legislation that will allow adequate time for military ballots to be sent and returned in the event of a special election.

(Albany, NY) Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) and the Independent Democratic Conference today called on the State Insurance Department to take the first steps to streamline the Medicaid system by quickly completing regulations to implement a new law that is projected to create more than $61 million in savings.

Today I participated in a county-wide initiative called Rockland Read In Day that many elementary schools in the district take part in. I was at Stony Point Elementary school reading to students in the 5th Grade.

(Albany, NY) Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland) today introduced a mandate relief package that will help schools reduce costs, maintain educational quality and ultimately help with the implementation of a tax cap.
(Pearl River, NY) Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland) joined students from the Lincoln Avenue Elementary School in Pearl River to box up hundreds of Valentine’s Day cards to be sent to our troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The cards were made by elementary school children from 22 schools in Rockland county. After being boxed up, the cards will be sent overseas and distributed by Commanding Officers and Chaplains to the men and women who are serving our country this Valentine’s Day.

In the coming weeks, the Legislature will be working with Governor Andrew Cuomo to finalize the State’s financial plan based on his 2011-2012 proposed budget.
