Mobile New York State Insurance Van Will Be in Rockland Tomorrow

 

Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) has arranged for the New York State Insurance Department mobile van to be in Rockland county tomorrow, Friday, September 2nd  to answer any insurance related questions in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, and to help residents fill out their insurance claim forms.

The van will be in the following locations at the following times:

10AM-1PM    1 Lonergan Drive, Suffern NY 10901 Squires Gate Development

2PM- 6PM     720 West Nyack Road, West Nyack, NY 10994  West Nyack Post Office/Hamlet Green Park

Senator Carlucci: Assisting Residents and Businesses Recover from Hurricane Irene

(Nanuet, NY)  Hurricane Irene has left approximately 48,000 residents in our area without power and caused extensive damage to homes and businesses.  Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) has been touring Rockland and Orange counties and will continue to do so over the next 24-48 hours with local government officials and business owners to determine how the state can help with recovery both in the immediate and long terms. 

“My priority over the next several days is to ensure that residents and businesses receive the assistance they require to recover from the damaging effects of Hurricane Irene,”  Senator Carlucci said.

Prepare before the storm!

If anyone in your home uses life support equipment such as an apnea monitor or oxygen concentrator, contact Orange and Rockland before the storm.

Stock up on food, water and if necessary, prescriptions.

Charge your cell phone.  Store the numbers to report flooding or power outages in your phone.

Learn how to manually open and close your garage door.

Fill your tank.

Bring in lawn furniture, children’s toys and other large, loose objects.

Stay home during the storm.  Leave the road clear for emergency vehicles.

Stay clear of and report downed power lines to the Utility company.

Senator Carlucci Creating Jobs Through the NYS Film Production Tax Credit Program

(Greenwood Lake, NY) Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) met with Rob Reiner to discuss the production of a film Reiner is producing in Greenwood Lake and the benefits of production in New York State, in particular the New York State Film Production Tax Credit Program. 

“The New York State Film Production Tax Credit Program was developed to incentivize film producers to come to New York State to shoot their movies, and it is working,”  Senator Carlucci said.  “I am pleased that Rob Reiner has chosen Greenwood Lake to produce his latest film because it is creating local jobs and boosting the economy in the community.  When films are produced here, local businesses win.“

Senator Carlucci Protecting New Yorkers from Unexpected Out-Of Network Charges

 

Nathan Rothstein, 14, was bitten by a dog and needed to be seen in an emergency room.  His parents, Debra and Jeffrey took him to an in-network hospital where they were told Nathan’s wounds were too deep and a plastic surgeon needed to be called in.  The surgeon who was on call that day was an out-of-network doctor, but the Rothsteins were not informed of that until they went to his office to have the bandages removed and were handed a bill.

According to the New York State Insurance Department, hospitals are not required to inform patients if they are going to be treated by an out-of-network physician.
