Senator Carlucci & Grandview Elementary School Celebrate Earth Day

Senator David Carlucci (D – Rockland/Westchester), planted a tree in celebration of Earth Day with the students of Grandview Elementary School.

“I have always enjoyed Earth Day,” said Senator Carlucci. “It’s important to show children how fun and easy it is to make our Earth a healthier place. As State Senator, I know how important it is to protect our environment with legislation, but that will only bring us so far, sometimes you need to roll up your sleeves and get to work.”

The apple tree was donated by O’Sullivan Tree Care from West Nyack.

Senator David Carlucci to Host Senior Advisory Council Meeting

Senator David Carlucci will be hosting a Senior Advisory Council Meeting on Friday, April 17th from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Nanuet Public Library, located at 149 Church St, in Nanuet, NY.

Senator Carlucci’s Senior Advisory Council gives seniors the opportunity to provide input on legislative matters and keep the Senator updated on their thoughts and concerns.

During the April meeting, Vivienne Dieckmann, Master Gardner for Cornell Cooperative Extension will be speaking to seniors about "Crops in Pots" – how to grow vegetables, flowers, fruits in pots and containers for individuals who do not have a yard or who do not intend to build a garden from scratch.

Senator David Carlucci to Host Legal Services of the Hudson Valley Office Hours

Senator David Carlucci will be hosting Legal Services of the Hudson Valley Office hours at his Ossining District Office, located at 2 Church Street, in Ossining, NY, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

“When it comes to children, seniors, veterans and vulnerable members of our community, they should receive the best legal counsel available, regardless of their income,” said Senator David Carlucci. “I look forward to partnering with Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, and I hope anyone who is need of quality legal advice joins us for our office hours.”

Legal Services of the Hudson Valley will be providing free comprehensive civil legal services for individuals cannot afford an attorney and need free, quality counsel for the following issues:

Senator David Carlucci Calls for Paid Family Leave

Senator David Carlucci hosted a press conference on Friday, March 27th at the “Just for Kids Daycare” center calling for the legislature and Governor Cuomo to include paid family leave in the 2015 New York State budget.

In New York State, only twelve percent of all workers are provided with Family Leave Insurance (FLI) from their employers. Additionally, over 40% of employees nationwide qualify for unpaid leave through the national Family and Medical Leave Act. This leaves many families with an impossible choice between being able to take care of their newborn, or be able to earn the income they need to make ends meet.

Senator David Carlucci will be hosting a very special visit from the Easter Bunny on Thursday, March 26th from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Pearl River Library, located at 80 Franklin Avenue, in Pearl River, NY.

Senator Carlucci & Students Hosts College Affordability Rally

Senator David Carlucci was joined by students, faculty and staff from Rockland Community College for a rally in support of Senator Carlucci’s “College Affordability” package.  

“It is becoming harder and harder for middle class families to make a promise to their children that they will be able to attend college, without the probability of decades of debt to follow,” said Senator Carlucci. As a new father I want to ensure that my son, along with all of the children in New York can receive a quality, affordable higher education.”

Senator Carlucci & Nyack Hospital Host Free Cancer Screenings

Senator David Carlucci and Nyack Hospital are hosting free cancer screenings on Friday, March 20th from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Nyack Hospital, located at 160 North Midland Avenue, in Nyack, NY.

The Breast Center at Nyack Hospital will be providing free clinical breast exams, mammograms, and if needed, pelvic exams with PAP tests for uninsured or underinsured women, ages 40 and over.

"Breast cancer is the second most deadly form of cancer for women,” said Senator Carlucci. “As a community it is critical we provide women with the tools they need for early detection and treatment. In previous years, the professional, hard working staff of Nyack Hospital has saved lives at our screenings, and I look forward to another successful event.”

In wake of the Metro-North Train #659 collision, Senator Carlucci has introduced S3858, legislation that will direct the department of transportation the authority to collaborate with other organizations to find out which grade crossing lanes are not safe, and how much it would cost to fix them.

The bill, S3858 will Although the numbers of accidents and fatalities at level grade rail crossings have fallen steadily on a national level, they have increased in New York State.

Senator Carlucci to Host Emergency Blood Drive

In wake of the recent blood shortage, Senator David Carlucci, in collaboration with the New York Blood Center (NYBC) is hosting an emergency blood drive this Thursday, February 5th from 3 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Congers Community Center, located at 6 Gilchrest Road, in Congers, NY.

Due to last week’s snow, and the cancellation of numerous blood drives across the state, NYBC estimates 3,000 scheduled donations have been lost – the largest single loss since Superstorm Sandy.

Senator David Carlucci Hosts Naloxone Training

Ossining, N.Y. – (1/13/15) – Dozens of Hudson Valley residents gathered at the Ossining Public Library, to attend a Naloxone training seminar hosted by Senator David Carlucci (D – Rockland/Westchester) the Harm Reduction Coalition, and Community That Cares.

 The training, which was administered by Mr. Bill Matthews of the Harm Reduction Coalition, was attended by members of the Ossining Police Department, concerned citizens, and service providers from Westchester and Rockland County.

With Christmas right around the corner Senator Carlucci teamed up with Curti Landscaping to promote the purchase of real Christmas trees and issue a consumer alert about toxic artificial trees and decorations this holiday season.

The Senator stressed that it is important that the public is aware and equipped with the right tools to protect their families this holiday season.

Senator Carlucci Wants Unclaimed $1 Million Dollar Lotto Prize To Fund Kindergarten

The search is still on for an unclaimed lottery ticket worth $1 million sold at a Quick Mart in Nanuet one year ago — and the deadline to claim the prize of $1 million dollars is tomorrow. Under current law money that is not claimed within one year from the date of the drawing or from the close of the game in which the prize was won is forfeited and retained in the lottery prize account to be used for payment of any special lotto prizes that may be offered, or for promotional purposes to supplement other lottery games on an occasional basis.

Senator David Carlucci today announced legislation today that would put aside unclaimed lottery winnings into a special fund that would fund kindergarten throughout the State of New York.

Senator Carlucci Helps Create Jobs With $100,000 Grant to Jawonio

On Monday November 17th, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) visited the Jawonio Main Campus to announce $100,000 in critical funding he secured for vocational services at Jawonio.

For decades, Jawonio has provided support and services for individuals with developmental disabilities and special needs throughout Rockland County, Westchester County and Northern New Jersey. Parts of those services include vocational/employment services through the Personalized Recovery Oriented Service (PROS) model that focuses on a multi-faceted recovery program that includes employment.
