Senator Valesky Enjoys Sounds of Wellwood Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Orchestra

Senator David J. Valeksy enjoyed the orchestral sounds of Wellwood Middle School in Albany's concourse. The 7th and 8th grade students performed under the direction of their teacher, Ms. Jacqueline Darvill. The students were performing in Albany as a part of Music In Our Schools Month presented by the NYSSMA. Wellwood Middle School is in the Fayetteville-Manlius School district.

Budget Update From State Senator David J. Valesky

The New York State Legislature has completed passage of an on-time budget for the second year in a row. Though it was another challenging budget, requiring the closure of a $3.5 billion deficit, we were able to balance the budget without tax increases or fiscal gimmickry. In addition, overall spending was reduced for the second straight year, the frist time this has happened in at least three decades.

Senator Valesky, IDC Release Report to Expand ‘Doctors Across New York’ program

State Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) and the Independent Democratic Conference, flanked by hospital executives from around New York State, released a comprehensive report today calling on the Department of Health to implement immediate reforms to the Doctors Across New York program New York currently uses to lure new doctors to underserved areas, particularly in Upstate and rural New York.

Independent Democratic Conference Releases Five Point Working Women’s Agenda

Today, the Independent Democratic Conference released its 2013 Working Women’s Agenda, a five point plan to build a stronger future for New York’s working women and their families. As part of the IDC’s agenda, the conference also released a comprehensive report entitled Building a Stronger Future for New York’s Working Women that details the impact each proposal will have on New York’s workforce.

Senator David J. Valesky Speaks at Boys' State at Morrisville State College

Senator David J. Valesky spoke to more than 1,100 high school junior boys and staff at this year’s Boys' State government camp at Morrisville State College, sponsored by the American Legion, June 23-28. Boys' State participants learn the importance of the individual in the success and progress of the government. The program also provides training in leadership, character, and citizenship development.

Senator David J. Valesky Speaks to Students Taking Part in Summer Science Week

On July 8, Senator Valesky spoke to 77 middle school students who are participating in the Honeywell Summer Science Week at the Museum of Science and Technology. They spent the morning on Onondaga Lake learning about bird habitats. He congratulated these students for continuing their education during summer vacation.
