SYRACUSE, N.Y. – In an effort to cut down on illegal guns and gang violence that plagues communities across the State of New York, Senate President Pro Tempore Malcolm A. Smith and Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) announced that New Justice Conflict Resolution Services of Syracuse will be the administering organization for Syracuse’s Operation SNUG, that will help local law enforcement and anti-violence community groups engage in innovative tactics to steer at-risk New Yorkers away from the culture of gangs and illegal guns.

Why Gov. Andrew Cuomo Needs Upstate New York

Albany, N.Y. - Gov. Andrew Cuomo doesn't need to win over Upstate New York to win re-election.

But his ability to establish a long-term turnaround for Upstate's struggling economy is important resume material for Cuomo's potential candidacy on the national stage.


SAFE Act: One Year Later

He said he made a promise and so far, he says he's kept his end of the bargain. That was Governor Cuomo last week at the State of the State Address. It's been nearly a year since the SAFE Act was passed. Some gun advocates say it was rushed through in the middle of the night.

News10NBC is hearing from some lawmakers who say that isn't exactly true.

The bill was passed in about 24 hours and while that is faster than normal, there was debate around it in the Assembly. It passed the Senate 43-18 and in the Assembly, the SAFE Act passed 104-45.
