SYRACUSE, N.Y.–State Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) and Mohawk Valley state senators Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I–Oneonta), Senator Joseph A. Griffo (R/C/I-Rome), and Senator Hugh T. Farley (R/C/I-Schenectady) announced a multi-prong strategy to assist local businesses and residents recover and rebuild from devastating June/July flooding.
SYRACUSE—State Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) has joined other state legislators who represent areas affected by severe flooding in July 2013 in introducing legislation that would create a state disaster recovery fund aimed at expediting assistance to victims and municipalities.
“We have seen too many instances of flood victims lacking basic necessities months after a disaster hits because they are waiting for government to act,” Senator Valesky said. “That is unacceptable, and I am pleased to co-sponsor this legislation that will ensure expeditious distribution of aid and resources through a disaster recovery fund.”
ALBANY, NY—State Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) today lauded the passage of the state’s fourth and historic consecutive on-time budget. This has not been accomplished with the same Governor and legislative leaders in more than 40 years.
On January 29, Senator Valesky attended the launch of the 3DayOK Partnership of Onondaga County, a network of government agencies, local organizations, and businesses created to ensure the public throughout the county is prepared and ready to respond in the event of a natural or man-made disaster. With Senator Valesky are Assemblyman Al Stirpe; Rosie Taravella, chief executive officer of the Western & Central New York Region, American Red Cross; and Melanie Littlejohn, Regional Executive of CNY, National Grid.
