SYRACUSE, N.Y.--Supporting local and farm wineries, the New York State Senate has passed legislation (S5440B) sponsored by Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) expanding the ability of wineries to sell wine for consumption at food festivals, significantly increasing the market for in-state producers.
SYRACUSE, N.Y.—State Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) has introduced legislation (S.7041) that would encourage more fishing events that provide physical and emotional rehabilitation for veterans or active duty members of the armed forces.
“Providing our veterans and active duty personnel, who have sacrificed bravely for our country, with more opportunities to learn the rehabilitative nature of fishing is a small way of saying thank you,” Senator Valesky said.
The State Senate today passed legislation supported by Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) that would expand opportunities for New Yorkers to participate in sporting activities including snowmobiling and hunting.

The bi-partisan group, made up of legislators from both the Assembly and Senate, focuses on legislative issues concerning sportsmen and women, including fishing, hunting and other outdoor-related activities.
The New York State Legislature has completed passage of an on-time budget for the second year in a row. Though it was another challenging budget, requiring the closure of a $3.5 billion deficit, we were able to balance the budget without tax increases or fiscal gimmickry. In addition, overall spending was reduced for the second straight year, the frist time this has happened in at least three decades.
