Albany – Today, Senator Diane J. Savino joined domestic workers and their supporters in calling for the immediate passage of the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights [S2311A]. The bill, introduced by Senator Savino, guarantees protection from discrimination, notice of termination, paid sick days and holidays, and other basic labor protections long denied to nannies, housekeepers, and elderly caregivers employed in private homes.

Staten Island Homeowners particularly hard hit in mortgage crisisBill protects homeowners at risk of losing their homes, prevents similar crises from happening in the future (Albany, NY) Tuesday, Senator Savino announced landmark Senate legislation, which protects homeowners from the ongoing foreclosure crisis, was signed into law by Governor Paterson. Expanding upon foreclosure prevention legislation passed by the Senate in 2008, this law provides additional measures to protect homeowners at risk of foreclosure, and to prevent similar crises from occurring in the future.

NEW YORK , NY – Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, State Senator Diane Savino, Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny, and Councilman Domenic Recchia announced a $21 million funding commitment for critical structural repairs at the Luna Park Housing Corporation, a 48-year-old City-administered Mitchell-Lama development in Coney Island .  As a condition for receiving these much-needed funds, Luna Park ’s co-op board has agreed to maintain the development’s affordability and remain in the Mitchell-Lama program for at least 20 years.  This will ensu

(Staten Island)--Senator Diane J. Savino, in conjunction with Health Plus and the NYC Parks and Recreation Department, Cromwell Center, hosted a "spooktacular" halloween celebration on Thursday, October 30, from 3pm to 5pm.

Kids were treated to free candy bags, healthy snacks, a costume contest and a haunted house.  Parents also had the opportunity to enroll in low-cost health insurance.

(Staten Island)— On September 3rd , State Senator Diane J. Savino held an unclaimed funds forum for seniors at the New Lane Senior Citizen Center, in conjunction with the New York State Comptroller’s office.   The workshop, part of a series of forums throughout the district, features a representative of the Comptroller’s office, who assists constituents in finding if they are entitled to unclaimed funds.
