The Reverend Dr. Tony Baker, Sr., a native of Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York, joined the United States Army in June 1974. After 20 years of service to our nation, Dr. Baker retired with an Honorable Discharge in July 1995.
During his time of service, Dr. Baker received numerous awards including the Army Commendation Medal 6th Oakley Cluster, 5 Good Conduct Medals, an Army Achievement Medal, an NCO Professional Development Ribbon, the National Defense Medal, 3 Overseas Ribbons and an Expert Marksmanship Badge.
Kamillah M. Hanks is a native Staten Islander, who has been a leader and advocate for smart growth and positive economic development in the North Shore of Staten Island for the past decade. Ms. Hanks is currently the founder and president of the Historic Tappen Park Community Partnership, Inc., where she partners with civic leaders, businesses, community groups and schools to boost cultural and economic development in the Stapleton area and surrounding community.
The New York City Housing Authority, which operates 334 developments throughout the city and 10 on Staten Island, is an important provider of affordable housing for many Staten Islanders. SENATOR DIANE SAVINO ANNOUNCES PASSAGE OF THE COMPASSIONATE CARE ACT IN THE NEW YORK STATE SENATE
ALBANY, NY -- Today, Senator Diane Savino (D-Staten Island/Brooklyn), sponsor of the Compassionate Care Act (S.7923 / A.6357), joined with members of the New York State Senate in voting overwhelmingly to establish a safe and regulated medical marijuana program in New York State. The Senate vote comes one day after a three-way agreement was struck between Governor Cuomo and legislative leaders, making New York the 23rd state in the nation that now will operate such a program.

Mary is the daughter of Alexander and Sophie LaManna (nee Korniewicz). Mary is a native of Staten Island along with her twin brother Joseph, and older brother Anthony where she attended St. Adalbert School.
Pat Singer has a long and storied history of activism in the Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, community. Most importantly, it is a history of action as well. Ms. Singer was born of immigrant parents, and has shown exceptional patience and sensitivity to the unique problems of the immigrant and ethnic population of Brighton Beach – that is where her activism started.
