Senator Savino sponsors free screenings and funding for women's health

(Brooklyn) – On Thursday October 22, women in Brooklyn received free mammograms from an event sponsored by Senator Diane J. Savino in conjunction with the American-Italian cancer foundation.  In addition, Senator Savino also announced that she had secured capital funding for future digital technology for the foundation.

Senator Diane J. Savino Hosts "Halloween Bash" at the Cromwell Center

(Staten Island)--Senator Diane J. Savino, in conjunction with Health Plus and the NYC Parks and Recreation Department, Cromwell Center, hosted a "spooktacular" halloween celebration on Thursday, October 30, from 3pm to 5pm.

Kids were treated to free candy bags, healthy snacks, a costume contest and a haunted house.  Parents also had the opportunity to enroll in low-cost health insurance.

DCAS Wants ‘Transit’ to Do Own Civil Service Hiring

Claims City Provisionals Down 12%By ARI PAUL

TRYING TO SAVE THE MARRIAGE: State Senate Committee on Civil Service and Pensions Chair Diane Savino was skeptical of a DCAS plan to ‘divorce’ New York City Transit and the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority from the city’s central hiring agency. In particular, she cited the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s often-contentious relationship with Transport Workers Union Local 100.

Savino held an unclaimed funds forum for seniors at the New Lane Senior Citizen Center, in conjunction with the New York State Comptroller’s office.   The workshop, part of a series of forums throughout the district, features a representative of the Comptroller’s office, who assists constituents in finding if they are entitled to unclaimed funds.

On Monday August 31, 2009 at 11:00 AM, New York State Senator Diane Savino visited Community Resources’ main campus at 3450 Victory Blvd. Last month, the Senator was able to approve a $25,000 grant to the organization in support of a planned expansion of the Special Tees’ screen printing program/business.
