SEN. LITTLE INVITES ‘IT’S YOUR MONEY’ ONLINE PETITION SUPPORT

Senate effort underway to prevent unfair withholding of state income tax refunds

   State Senator Betty Little is inviting local residents to visit her web site and register their support for legislation that would prevent the implementation of an unfair  plan to withhold state income tax refunds.

   Governor David Paterson floated the proposal last week, citing low state revenue receipts.  Little and her Senate Republican colleagues are taking steps to prevent the ill-conceived plan from moving forward.

The Governor is thinking about delaying the return of state income tax refunds. This is a terrible idea. Let’s work together to help him change his mind!Please sign this on-line petition to get the tax refunds out the door as soon as possible. I will deliver the petition to the Governor in the next few weeks to let him know how we feel.In addition, I am supporting legislation that would prohibit governors and the State Tax Department from withholding refunds in the future.

State Senate Passes Bill to Expand Renewable Energy Program

The State Senate today approved legislation (S.6700) to promote the expanded use of non-residential solar and wind electric generating systems.  Senator Betty Little cosponsored the measure which amends the current “net metering” law to remove obstacles that have limited the participation of non-residential customers, including businesses, schools, municipalities and non-profits.

Senator Little Pushes Job Growth Plan

Would provide tax credits for new jobs created

  A job-growth plan proposed today by Senator Betty Little and her Republican Senate colleagues would provide a new tax credit, averaging between $2,500 and $5,000, for every new job created by businesses throughout the state.

     “Anyone in Albany who has a doubt about the importance of making bridge repair a priority this year should visit the businesses and families affected by the closure in Crown Point.  Or try adding a self-imposed two hour detour to their daily commute for a week or two to get a glimpse of what it means to lose something as vital as a bridge in their community.
