On Wednesday, July 21, 2010, NYS Senator Eric Adams will join not-for-profit organization Publicolor to visit the bright and vivid transformation of the St. Louis Senior Center in his District #20 in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

 Senator Adams states: “I am partnering with Publicolor, a not-for-profit whose mission during the past 15 years has been to reduce the school drop-out rate by involving at-risk students in their own education. Publicolor employs an innovative creative arts program in an endeavor to empower students to reach their full potential. Publicolor begins by teaching students to transform their own public schools and nearby community facilities by painting these structures with vibrant colors.

NYS Senator Eric Adams today attended the signing into law of his legislation terminating the “Stop, Question, Frisk” Database of the INNOCENT.

 Senator Adams states: “Governor Paterson today signed into law my bill S.7945A, legislation prohibiting an electronic database that retains the personal information of individuals who are stopped and questioned (and perhaps frisked) by police but released immediately without being charged with a crime or a violation.

 “My legislation does not prohibit the use of “stop, question, frisk,” but it does end the practice in which the NYPD stores in a computer database the personal information of the INNOCENT.

NYS Senator Eric Adams joined his colleagues in the Senate Majority Conference to announce a major victory in the battle to protect New York’s children: a law to require sex offender screening and abuse screening for jobs that entail working with children.

 NYS Senator Eric Adams states: “Passage in the Senate of S6998A will help prevent the hiring of registered sex offenders and individuals guilty of child abuse for jobs entailing time spent around children.

NYS Senator Eric Adams announces passage in the NYS Senate and the NYS Assembly of the Midwifery Modernization Act. The legislation will eliminate the requirement for a written practice agreement (WPA) for licensed midwives to practice in New York State.

 Senator Adams’ statement: “Midwives are governed by rigorous educational requirements and regulations, and they provide excellent maternity, gynecological, and primary health care for their clients. They are committed to providing safe care for women and infants.

  NYS Senator Eric Adams announces passage of S7945, his legislation modifying NYC’s ‘Stop and Frisk’ law. The law would bar the NYPD from maintaining a database on hundreds of thousands of innocent New Yorkers. Currently, the NYPD maintains a database of the names of stopped individuals, even when no charge is filed and no arrest is made!

NYS Senator Eric Adams supports S5808, Senate legislation known as the Reproductive Health Act. The bill establishes the fundamental rights to choose contraception and determine the course of a pregnancy, decriminalizing abortion by authorizing the procedure prior to viability.
