Senator Eric Adams comments on "Erin Merryn's law" during Senate Session

Senator Adams voted "yes" for the Erin Merryn's law today.

The legislation, “Erin Merryn's Law,”   (S.6182 Klein/ A.8993 Dinowitz),  would require schools to make a change to their existing curriculum for child abduction to include age appropriate information on child sex abuse prevention. This alteration would give critically important information to victims – many of whom do not know there is a way out of their horrific situation.

Senator Adams joined the Caucus in regards to Redistricting

Senator Adams joined the Members of the New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus to express their collective displeasure at the districts drawn by Senate Republicans.  These lines crack and pack minorities with blatant disregard to communities of interest and in some instances county lines. The Caucus sees it as an unparalleled power grab by the Senate Republicans to maintain their current strong holds and dilute the power of minority communities.

From Senator Eric Adams..THANK YOU!

THANK YOU for putting the pressure on the Senate Republicans!  Your voices matter!

The Senate Republicans have decided to honor Whitney Houston for her contributions when the Legislature returns from its two-week mid-winter break.

In addition, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie ordered that flags be flown half staff on state government buildings on the day of Whitney Houston's funeral.  Although his decision is receiving much criticism, Governor Christie plans to sign an executive order to honor Ms. Houston.

Statement from NYS Senator Eric Adams on rejection by GOP for Whitney Houston Resolution

Senator Adams’ statement:

“I was rejected  by the GOP on my request for a resolution honoring the life of singer Whitney Houston.  Reportedly, there was uneasiness about saluting someone who may have died of a drug overdose, and that Houston had no real local ties to New York.

Houston donated proceeds from the re-release of her 1991 rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” to 9/11 responders. What message do we send when we honor our football champions for actions on the football field, yet we don't give acknowledgment to those who help the soldiers that have fallen on the battle field?
