NYS Senators Eric Adams, Chairman of the Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee and Hiram Monserrate call on Mayor Michael Bloomberg to close NYC public schools on Thursday, May 21 and Friday, May 22 as a precautionary measure against the spread of the H1N1 virus that has caused such great concern over the past month. This creates a 5-day window to insure a safe environment and inform parents about prevention techniques, both designed to stem any possible spread of the H1N1 virus.
Senator Adams meets with representatives from various veterans' groups dedicated to helping our nation's bravest once they return from serving in uniform.

Senator Adams states: “Today, we honor those brave individuals who wore the military uniform of the United States of America and tragically were cut down during 2009 in the service of their country. These heroes join many noble predecessors who have fallen so that our nation could stand. These 59 souls, all from or with close ties to the State of New York, gave their lives so that we may remain free.
