October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Dear Constituents:

Fall is finally upon us, as the falling leaves and the falling temperatures constantly remind us.  I would like to take a moment to acknowledge all the women in my community, and implore them to take the time to care of themselves.  As October has been designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I wish to take this time to remind you all how important it is to schedule a yearly mammogram.

With breast cancer rates on the rise in recent decades, it is recommended that a clinical breast exam by a trained medical professional begin at age 20 and be done a minimum of every three years until the age of 40; women over 40 should undergo breast exams every year.

From the Desk of NYS Senator Eric Adams - Conference Call Information

Dear Constituents:

The death of 23-year-old cyclist Jasmine Herron, killed when a motorist opened a car door into traffic, knocking Jasmine into the path of a city bus, was tragic. This was a dreadful occurrence, and I once again extend my deepest sympathies to the family.

I want to mobilize our city to understand the importance of sharing streets safely with all the various modes of transportation. Bicycle travel in particular has become a significant means of travel in our State; in New York City, some estimates put the number of daily trips at a quarter of a million.
