One of my favorite pastimes is working on a community garden project.  I find it particularly rewarding labor, although it does come with the challenging task of continually fighting pesky weeds.  No matter what you do, they always pop up somewhere among the desired trees and flowers.

   We have now all read that the Senate stalemate has come to an end with Senator Pedro Espada returning to the Democratic Party and assuming the mantle as majority leader.  I can't express to you how disgusted I am at this result.  To have a majority leader whose only interest is in his own power, and who cares not about the desires of the people of NY is an embarrassment.

Governor Allocates $1.5 Million to Concerned for Independent Living

Senator Adams states:

"In early January, I wrote a letter to New York State DHCR in support of an application of Concern For Independent Living for an allocation of low income housing tax credits for a project in my District #20. Today, Governor Paterson has announced that he is providing credits totaling $48 million, designating more than $1.5 million to Concern.

The Senate Minority and Majority attended special sessions at separate times.  Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith met with the senators from the Majority party at noon and Minority Leader Dean Skelos met with members of the Minority immediately thereafter.  At a conference held after the sessions, the Majority discussed possible further meetings with Senator Skelos and members of his Minority conference to encourage them to sign onto our power-sharing proposal.
