11:30 am - Volunteers to prepare food (need MANY volunteers)

12:30 pm - Volunteers and vans to deliver food to Armory

And donations to cover food costs.

Senator Adams addresses the homeowners and speaks with the families that were affected by Hurricane Sandy in Canarise and Manhattan Beach community. Senator Adams is coordinating with elected officials and volunteer organizations to ensure that the community has a mobile command center and portable generators, which is available for neighborhood residents to charge their cellular phones and other communication devices.

NYS Senators John Sampson and Eric Adams will hold a press conference in Canarsie, Brooklyn, to announce that they will coordinate with volunteer organizations to bring a mobile command center to the area.  The legislators will make the command center and portable generators available for neighborhood residents to charge their cellular phones and other communication devices.

Senator Adams joined parents and students at P.S. 138 at 760 Prospect Place to rally against the proposed co-location of Success Academy in their school.  Although Senator Adams supports charter schools, he is opposed to forced “co-location” of charter schools within public school buildings.

Due to the impending storm, subways will shut down at 7 pm tonight and buses will cease operations at  9 pm tonight.

American Red Cross Prepares for Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy may take aim at the eastern coast of the United States as early as this weekend, and the American Red Cross is preparing to respond if needed.

From Florida to Maine, the Red Cross is placing shelter locations, trained disaster workers, vehicles and supplies on alert.

The Red Cross is also working in close collaboration with government officials and community partners to coordinate potential response efforts.

 

People in the possible path of this storm should keep informed about the storm's progress and get prepared now in case their community is affected.

The Red Cross also recommends these quick steps to take now to be prepared for emergencies like hurricanes - build a kit, make a plan and be informed:
