MEDIA ADVISORY---NYS SENATOR ERIC ADAMS AND ASSEMBLY MEMBER KARIM CAMARA CALLED ON CITY OFFICIALS TO POSTPONE SUNDAY’S NYC MARATHON IF ELECTRICITY IS NOT RESTORED IN THE 5 BOROUGHS

New York State Senator Eric Adams and Assembly Member Karim Camara called on Mayor Bloomberg to postpone the NYC Marathon if electricity cannot be restored in the five boroughs by 8:00pm Friday, November 2.

Senator Adams addresses the homeowners and speaks with the families that were affected by Hurricane Sandy in Canarise and Manhattan Beach community. Senator Adams is coordinating with elected officials and volunteer organizations to ensure that the community has a mobile command center and portable generators, which is available for neighborhood residents to charge their cellular phones and other communication devices.

Senator Adams visits a family displaced by the storm.  They were safely located with their new born child, at John Jay High School.

Senator Adams led a delegation to Haiti to assess the aftermath of the earthquake in 2010.

Senator Adams was a panelist at the Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church Men's Ministries First Annual Leadership Summit, where the theme was "The Role of Men in Society: Why More Men Need to Step Up and Lead."

Senator Adams was a panelist for the Trinity Baptist Church GEMS Youth Convocation Summit, where the theme was "Do You Feel Me?" It was a discussion of various topics important to youth such as stereotypes, communication issues, fears and pressures and violation of rights (ex: stop and frisk policy)  Senator Adams is joined by the pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, Pastor Glenmore Bembry.

Senator Adams joined 10,000 Hasidic community members to celebrate the joyous wedding of Rabbi Zalman Teitelbaum's grandson, Chaim Hersch Rosenberger and Classoner Rav Scher in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  The celebration for the wedding took place at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Hurricane Sandy may take aim at the eastern coast of the United States as early as this weekend, and the American Red Cross is preparing to respond if needed.

From Florida to Maine, the Red Cross is placing shelter locations, trained disaster workers, vehicles and supplies on alert.

The Red Cross is also working in close collaboration with government officials and community partners to coordinate potential response efforts.

People in the possible path of this storm should keep informed about the storm's progress and get prepared now in case their community is affected.

Senator Adams attended the Historic Mayor's Ball in Long Island where three African American Mayors were honored: the Hon. Wayne J. Hall (village of Hempsted), the Hon. Andrew Hardwick (Village of Freeport), and the Hon. Geoffrey Prime (Village of South Floral Park).
