  • Daily News: How gay unions lost -- but won

    Supporters of same-sex marriage sadly lost the 38-to-24 vote in the state Senate last week, but they won the argument.

    On the merits, the debate wasn't even close.

    In fact, with the lonely exception of Bronx Sen. Ruben Diaz Sr., opponents literally said nothing to justify denying equal marital rights to tens of thousands of New Yorkers.

    The only word 37 of them spoke was "no."

    Their collective silence was shameful.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEJuly 30, 2010CONTACT: Ken Houston 716.854.8705 houston@senate.ny.us Buffalo, NY – Landmark  legislation sponsored  by New York State Senator Antoine Thompson ( D-parts of  Erie & Niagara Counties) becomes law.  The bill (S3296) bans the use of  Bishpenol-A in products for children age three and under.  NY Governor  David Paterson signed the bill into law Friday, July 30, 2010. The bill (#S3296) includes childcare products such as pacifiers, baby bottles, baby bottle liners, cups, cup lids, straws  and sippy cups.  Parents have innocently exposed their children to this product for years without knowing the risk.
