Padavan Celebrates National Estuaries Day At APEC's Little Neck Bay Festival

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens)  joined with environmental enthusiasts, local families, area school children and Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC) representatives to celebrate the Little Neck Bay Festival during National Estuaries Day at APEC on Saturday afternoon September 25, 2010. The day-long event highlighted the environmental conservation efforts taking place on Little Neck Bay. The festival featured exhibits, speakers, games and arts and crafts for children who attended. Senator Frank Padavan speaks to children from PS 94 just outside the Padavan Pavilion at APEC about the local environment during a ceremony marking National Estuaries Day.

Padavan and Local Residents Celebrate 35th Anniversary of Queens County Farm Museum at Annual Queens County Fair

New York State Senator (Queens) joined thousands over the weekend at the 28th Annual Queens County Fair at the Queens County Farm Museum in Floral Park. This year the Queens County Farm Museum celebrates their 35th anniversary. Since its foundation, Senator Padavan has been a driving force behind the legislative and community efforts to protect and preserve the Queens County Farm Museum.  The annual fair provides an opportunity for families and residents from Queens and the surrounding areas to enjoy a traditional agricultural fair and learn more about the rich history of New York’s oldest continuously operating farmSenator Padavan with traditional German singers and dancers at the Queens County Fair on Sunday September 26, 2010.

Padavan Marks 50th Anniversary of St. Mel School in Flushing

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined with school administrators, faculty, parents, students and alumni of St. Mel School in Flushing to commemorate their landmark 50th Anniversary on Saturday September 18, 2010. The anniversary was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony and the opening of a time capsule. St. Mel Church Pastor Father Christopher J. Turczany, Sister Angela Gannon, Laura Conte and Senator Frank Padavan prior to the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the second fifty years of St. Mel School.

Padavan and Community Remember 9/11

On Saturday September 11, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens)  joined with residents and local leaders from throughout Northeast Queens to grieve and remember the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. During the day, Padavan attended memorial services at the Poppenhusen Institute, the North Shore Towers and in Bayside Hills.  Senator Padavan places an American flag on the Bayside Hills 9/11 Memorial during the Bayside Hills Civic Association’s Memorial Ceremony on Saturday evening.

Padavan Takes Part In Reach Out and Read Program

On Wednesday August 11, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) read to local children at the Queens Hospital Center in Jamaica as a part of the Reach Out and Read Program. The program helps prepare children to read in the earliest ages of their development (ages 6 months to 5 years) and foster educational skills throughout their lives. Senator Padavan reads “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie” to local children during a visit to Queen Hospital Center.

Padavan Attends Asian-Asian Coalition For Education Graduation Ceremony

On Friday morning August 13. New York State Senator Frank Padavan attended the graduation ceremony for the Asian-American Coalition for Education at Francis Lewis High School in Fresh Meadows.  The event celebrated the achievements of the students as the new school year approaches.  The Asian-American Coalition for Education is a not-for-profit educational organization for elementary, middle school, and high school students and is compromised mainly of Asian-American students and newly immigrated families residing in New York City. The organization seeks to encourage members to participate in the educational system and provide them with information vital to their educational experience.

Padavan, Poppenhusen Institute Sponsor Family Fun Day in College Point

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) in partnership with the Poppenhusen Institute sponsored the first annual Family Fun Day at MacNeil Park in College Point on Sunday afternoon July 11, 2010. The event featured fun games and educational programs by the Alley Pond Environmental Center, the Long Island Children Museum, the Fire Department of New York and the NYC Coalition of Transportation. Children and their families enjoyed a ventriloquist performance, inflatable bouncy bounces, sand and bubble art, face painting and various other arts and crafts.

Padavan Honored For Commitment and Dedication To The Entire Whitestone Community

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined with Councilman Dan Halloran, the Greater Whitestone Taxpayers’ Civic Association, the Knights of Columbus and the North Queens United Group to host the first annual Whitestone Family Appreciation Day at Francis Lewis Park on Saturday June 26.  The event featured an afternoon full of programs, games and activities for children and their families.  Money raised from raffles and other donations will benefit the Whitestone Veteran’s Memorial Day Association.  During the event, the Padavan was honored by the Greater Whitestone

Padavan Helps Kick-Off St. Gregory the Great Festival

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) was on hand for the opening festivities and parade for the St. Gregory the Great Festival on Thursday evening June 17, 2010. Each year thousand from Northeast Queens and throughout the borough take part in the 10-day long festival in Bellerose. Bellerose Village Mayor Donna Sherrer, Senator Padavan and Father William Dulaney lead the opening parade of the St. Gregory the Great Festival.

Padavan Hosts No-Cost Mammography Screenings In Bellerose

On Saturday June 5, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) and the American-Italian Cancer Foundation hosted a mammography screening event outside of Padavan’s District Office in Bellerose. The no-cost screenings took place on the Foundation’s fully contained mobile mammography van. Both insured and un-insured women who took part in the event incurred no-out-of-pocket expenses and no co-pays. The event was the second in a series throughout 2010. Padavan hosted an event back in April and will host another one in November.
