Memorial Day In Northeast Queens

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) participated in a number of parades, ceremonies and observances to mark Memorial Day in Northeast Queens. Padavan, a retired colonel and 30-year veteran of the United States Army Corp of Engineers said, “ On Memorial Day we gather as a community to pay tribute to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy our freedom. We honor the valiant service, bravery and courage of all soldiers who have served our great nation.

Padavan, Students, Teachers, Administrators and Alumni Celebrate Francis Lewis High School's 50th Anniversary

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) attended the 50th Anniversary celebration of Francis Lewis High School in Fresh Meadows on Saturday May 15, 2010.  The event featured a BBQ, carnival, Battle of The Bands, and Marching Bands. Opened in 1960, Francis Lewis High School serves the northeast and central portions of Queens.

College Point Street Renamed In Honor of Betty Pegen

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) was on hand at the ceremony marking the College Point street renaming in honor of Betty Pegen.  Known fondly as the “Gardening Angel of Poppenhusen Monument Park, Pegen who lived close to the park devoted an enormous amount of her time planting, weeding and caring for the grounds of the park.  The ceremony took place during the Partnership for the Parks “It’s My Park day on Saturday May 15, 2010. Senator Padavan and Councilman Dan Halloran with members of Girl Scout Troop 4399 at the street renaming ceremony in honor of Betty Pege

Padavan Welcomes A Pair of Local West Point Cadets At Capitol

On Wednesday April 28, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) a retired colonel and 30-year veteran of the United State Army Corp of Engineers, met with Cadet Rachel Kim and Cadet Hemanth Nalamothu during West Point Day at the State Capitol. Cadet Kim, a member of the Class of 2013 is from Whitestone and Cadet Nalamothu, a member of the Class of 2011 is from Bayside. This was Nalamothu’s second visit to the Capitol for West Point Day.

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens),  students from the Immaculate Conception School’s Aquinas Honor Society and local civic leaders joined together for the unveiling of a historical marker for Jamaica Estates. The event took place at the location of the plaque at Wexford Terrace and Midland Malls on Friday morning April 23, 2010.

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens),  students from the Immaculate Conception School’s Aquinas Honor Society and local civic leaders joined together for the unveiling of a historical marker for Jamaica Estates. The event took place at the location of the plaque at Wexford Terrace and Midland Malls on Friday morning April 23, 2010. Padavan provided a $2,000 grant for the historical plaque after the student from the Aquinas Society undertook two years of research into the history and heritage of the Jamaica Estates community.

Padavan and Bayside Anglers Clean-Up Little Neck Bay

On Sunday April 17, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined with members of the Bayside Anglers Club and community volunteers for the annual clean-up along the shoreline of Little Neck Bay. Once again, volunteers cleaned up trash and litter along the shore line from Bayside to Fort Totten.  Senator Padavan helps volunteer’s pick-up trash along the Little Neck Bay shoreline during the Bayside Anglers springtime clean-up on Sunday April 18, 2010.

Padavan Walks With QCP In Annual "Walk With Me" Event

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) took part in the Queens Centers for Progress (QCP) “Walk With Me” Hike for Health event on Saturday April 17, 2010.  The 2.5 mile walk began at QCP made its way through Kissena Park and back to the starting point at QCP. The annual event raises money to help developmentally disabled individuals throughout Queens achieve independence. Senator Padavan with participants in the QCP “Walk With Me” event at the start of the 2.5 walk on Saturday April 17.

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) honored five new Eagle Scouts during Troop 255’s 70th Annual Family Dinner at the new Reception House in Flushing on Friday March 12, 2010. New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) addressed a statewide group of physicians and medical professionals from Queens and throughout the state at West Capitol Park during their Lobby Day on Tuesday March 9, 2010. During his remarks on the steps of the park, Padavan called for tort reform that will limit and lessen the burden of large increases in medical liability insurance premiums placed on doctors, physicians and medical professionals in New York.
