Padavan Attends Opening Of New Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church In Whitestone

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) attended the grand opening of the new Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Whitestone on Sunday December 13, 2009.  The opening of the Byzantine style church marked the culmination of years of preparation and hard work.  The monumental event was attended by congregations of the church, local leaders and His Eminence Archbishop  Demetrios of America. Senator Padavan greets Archbishop Demetrios at the Consecration of the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Whitestone.

Padavan Honors New Eagle Scout In Bellerose

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) honored new Eagle Scour Jonathan Palmiotti from Troop 158 during a Court of Honor ceremony at VFW 6478 in Bellerose on Saturday evening December 5, 2009. Padavan presented Palmiotti with the New York State Senate Medal of Outstanding Achievement and a Certificate of Merit for his achievements. Senator Padavan presents the New York State Senate Medal of Outstanding Achievement to new Eagle Scout Jonathan Palmiotti.

Padavan Hosts Fall Community Health and Wellness Expo in Floral Park

On Saturday, November 21st, Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) hosted his annual Fall Community Health and Wellness Expo at Our Lady of the Snows Church in Floral Park. Throughout the late morning and early afternoon, families, seniors and residents were able to access free health services including screening and information related to their health and wellness.  Free services included testing for blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol, body fat analysis, dental screenings, hearing screenings and vision screenings.

Padavan Honored By Catholic Charities Neighborhood Services

New York State Senator Frank Padavan was honored by the Catholic Charities Neighborhood Services (CCNS) Bayside Senior Center during a breakfast on Wednesday November 18th, 2009.  Padavan was presented with the award in recognition of his service in the military, City government, the New York Senate and his support of CCNS Bayside Senior Center. Senator Padavan is presented with the Lifetime of Service Award from the Catholic Charities Neighborhood Services Bayside Senior Center by center director Susan Shafer.

Padavan Host Mammography Screening In Bellerose

On Saturday November 14th,  New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) and the American-Italian Cancer Foundation hosted a mammography screening event outside of Padavan’s Bellerose District Office. The no-cost screenings took place on the Foundation’s fully contained mobile mammography van. There were no-out-of-pocket expense and no co-pays for both insured and uninsured women.

Kupferberg Center Officially Opens At QCC

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined with Queensborough Community College officials, Holocaust survivors and fellow community leaders for the official grand opening and ribbon cutting of the Harriet and Kenneth Kupferberg Holocaust Resource Center and Archives. The 9,000 square foot facility located on the QCC campus will serve as an educational and research center and will honor and remember victims of the Holocaust.  Senator Padavan secured $3 million for the Center in the 2004-05 State Budget which was instrumental in the construction of the new facility.

Padavan Honors Local Community Leader In Douglaston

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) presented Bill Sievers with a New York State Senate Proclamation and the New York State Senate Liberty Medal in recognition of him being presented with the Van Zandt Award for Community Service by Zion Parish on Saturday, October 10, 2009.  Sievers, a long-time resident of Douglaston Hills, was honored for his extensive work in the community including his most recent work in reinstating the original street names of Douglaston Hills.

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined with local historic preservationists and elected officials for the announcement that the historic Bowne House in Flushing has been acquired by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.  The landmark property was donated to the Parks and Recreation Department by the Bowne House Historical Society, which will remain as the organization that will operate the house as a museum.

National Art League Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On Sunday September 13, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) attended the ribbon cutting ceremony unveiling the new renovations at the National Art League in Douglaston.  Senator Padavan secured major capital grants to help make the renovations possible. The National Art League is an organization of professional artists and art students who seek to advance their artistic skills and works. Established in 1930, the National Art League has grown to now include 300 artists as a part of the organization.
