Padavan Presents Awards at Little Neck-Douglaston Memorial Day Art and Essay Contest

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) was on hand to help present the awards to the winners of the annual Little Neck-Douglaston Memorial Day Parade Organization Art and Essay Contest. The ceremony took place on Friday evening, May 15th at The Ernie Pyle U.S.A.R Center at Fort Totten.  This year themes ranged from Our County in the art portion to Preserving Our Nation in the essay portion of the contest.  Various levels of awards were granted to area student from kindergarten through ninth grade.  Senator Padavan and Master Sgt.

Padavan Honors New Eagle Scout In Douglaston

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) honored new Eagle Scout Ryan Matthew Furlong from Troop 153 during his Court of Honor ceremony on Saturday May 9th at the Douglaston Club.  Padavan presented Ryan with the New York State Senate Medal of Outstanding Achievement and a Certificate of Merit in recognition of him obtaining the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. Senate Padavan Welcomes Dalai Lama To Senate Chamber

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) welcomed the Dalai Lama to the Senate Chamber during his recent visit to the State Capitol on Wednesday May 6, 2009. His holiness, the Dalai Lama, addressed the Senators about the increased need of respect and compassion in addressing the challenges of the state.  The Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader and head of state for Tibet. Senator Padavan and His Holiness, the Dalai Lama meet in the Senate Chamber following the Dalai Lama’s remarks to the Senate on May 6, 2009.

On Saturday morning March 7, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined with community leaders, members of the Bay Terrace Community Alliance Inc, Friends of Fort Totten Park and concerned residents to protest the removal of the security guard service located at the gate of Fort Totten. Padavan and community members stressed their concern that the removal of the security guard service at the front gate will increase the potential for vandalism and burglary of the historic buildings in the Fort Totten complex and surrounding neighborhoods.
