Padavan Invites Students To Participate In Statewide Enivronment Contest

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) today called for local students entries for the 17th Annual I*MA*GREEN*NATION Celebration.

 The I*MA*GREEN*NATION competition is an annual statewide competition that provides grade and middle school children the opportunity to present their ideas and solutions to environmental problems. Past presentations have included ways to combat global warming, reduce solid waste and foster recycling in our communities.

Padavan Strongly Opposes Expansion Of Gambling In Governor's Executive Budget

 New York Senator Frank Padavan (Queens), the New York State Legislature’s leading opponent of gambling, strongly opposes the massive increase in gambling provisions in the 2008-09 Executive Budget. The Governor’s proposed spending plan for the upcoming state fiscal year, starting on April 1, calls for a privatization plan of the NYS Lottery, video lottery terminals (VLT’s) at nearby Belmont Racetrack and the expansion of Quick Draw.

Padavan's Anti-Human Trafficking Law In Effect

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) announced today that his anti-human trafficking law which was signed by Governor Spitzer on June 6th, 2007 is now in effect as of January 1, 2008. The comprehensive new law will increase criminal penalties for individuals who engage in human and sex trafficking while providing victims the vital resources and support they need to assist them in recovering from the crime.
