Free Family Event sponsored by Senator Frank Padavan and the Poppenhusen Institute. 

The free family-friendly event will feature educational programs, games and activities, arts and crafts and family safety training programs.

Senators Padavan, Golden, Lanza Charge MTA Fails New Yorkers Again

State Senators Frank Padavan (Queens). Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) and Andrew Lanza (R-Staten Island), today are responding to a New York State Comptroller’s report highlighting yet another financial failure of the Metropolitan Transit Authority, that of their failure to collect more than $9 million in back rent from nearly 1,000 commercial tenants. The State Senators are charging, in the wake of this week’s severe bus and train service reductions across New York City, that the mismanaged MTA has failed New Yorkers again.

Padavan Introduces Legislation To Cap Alcohol Content In Liquor And Spirits Sold In NYS

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) announced today that he has introduced legislation (S.8363) aimed at providing an alcohol content cap on all spirits and liquor sold in New York.  Padavan’s action comes following the recent introduction of 192 proof liquor to the New York market.  192 liquor equates to roughly 96 percent alcohol per volume.

NYS Department of State Designates Bayside, Bellerose, Queens Village and Whitestone As Cease and Desist Zones

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) announced today that the neighborhoods of Bayside, Bellerose, Queens Village and Whitestone will be cease and desist zones effective August 1, 2010. Under the program sponsored by the New York State Department of State, licensed real estate brokers and salespersons are prohibited from soliciting listings of residential property from homeowners whose names appear on the list.  The cease and desist program was established through legislation sponsor by Senator Padavan .

Padavan Honored For Commitment and Dedication To The Entire Whitestone Community

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined with Councilman Dan Halloran, the Greater Whitestone Taxpayers’ Civic Association, the Knights of Columbus and the North Queens United Group to host the first annual Whitestone Family Appreciation Day at Francis Lewis Park on Saturday June 26.  The event featured an afternoon full of programs, games and activities for children and their families.  Money raised from raffles and other donations will benefit the Whitestone Veteran’s Memorial Day Association.  During the event, the Padavan was honored by the Greater Whitestone

Padavan and Poppenhusen Institute Team Up For Family Fun Day At MacNeil Park

 New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) announced today that he is teaming up with the Poppenhusen Institute in sponsoring the first annual Family Fun Day at MacNeil Park in College Point. The event will take place on Sunday July 11 from 2 pm to 6 pm.

 A free concert sponsored by Senator Padavan, featuring the Columbian folklore band Groupo Latino will follow the family fun day festivities at 6 pm.

Padavan Helps Kick-Off St. Gregory the Great Festival

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) was on hand for the opening festivities and parade for the St. Gregory the Great Festival on Thursday evening June 17, 2010. Each year thousand from Northeast Queens and throughout the borough take part in the 10-day long festival in Bellerose. Bellerose Village Mayor Donna Sherrer, Senator Padavan and Father William Dulaney lead the opening parade of the St. Gregory the Great Festival.

Padavan Hosts No-Cost Mammography Screenings In Bellerose

On Saturday June 5, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) and the American-Italian Cancer Foundation hosted a mammography screening event outside of Padavan’s District Office in Bellerose. The no-cost screenings took place on the Foundation’s fully contained mobile mammography van. Both insured and un-insured women who took part in the event incurred no-out-of-pocket expenses and no co-pays. The event was the second in a series throughout 2010. Padavan hosted an event back in April and will host another one in November.

 With the end of the school year and summer fast approaching, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) is inviting all area students in the community to participate in his Summer Reading Challenge Program. The free program is intended to encourage school children to continue reading through the summer months.
