Padavan Honors New Eagle Scouts From Troop 1

State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) honored a pair of new Eagle Scouts from Troop 1 during a Court of Honor ceremony at Temple Beth Sholom in Flushing on Saturday February 7, 2009. Padavan presented the pair of young leaders with the New York State Senate Medal of Achievement and a Certificate of Merit in recognition of their accomplishments. Two years ago, Padavan was named as an honorary member of Troop 1, joining New York Yankee and baseball legend Babe Ruth as the only two individuals to be bestowed with the honor.

On January 31st, Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined with the Korean American Association of Queens, local elected officials and thousands of New Yorkers to welcome the Year of the Ox at the Korean American Association’s annual Lunar New Year Parade. The event, an annual tradition for the Flushing community attracts tens of thousands of New Yorkers to mark the beginning of the Lunar New Year.

Padavan Honored by American Legion

On Thursday February 5, 2009, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) was honored by the American Legion for his outstanding service to American veterans. The award was presented to Senator Padavan by Dennis J. Dubin of Brooklyn. Senator Padavan, a retired colonel and 30-year veteran of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, has been honored by numerous veterans’ organizations over the years for his work in the State Senate on veterans and community issues. Padavan Hosts Mammography Screenings in Bellerose and Whitestone

On Monday October 6, 2008 Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) and the American-Italian Cancer Foundation hosted two mammography screenings events outside of Padavan’s Bellerose and Whitestone District Offices. The no-cost screenings took place in a fully contained mobile mammography van. There were no-out-of-pocket expense and no co-pays for both insured and uninsured women. Senator Padavan, medical staff and local women during the American-Italian Cancer Foundation mobile mammography van’s visit to Senator Padavan’s District Office in Whitestone.

On Sunday September 28th Senator Padavan hosted his Fall Community Health and Wellness Expo at Mary’s Nativity Parish Center in Flushing. The annual event allows the Queens community to enjoy the rich cultural history of the oldest continuously operating farm in New York State in a county fair atmosphere with games, carnival rides, food and competitions for crafts and agricultural.

Lawn Litter Law Facts

• Thanks to widespread support from civic organizations and residents throughout Queens, Senator Padavan’s “Lawn Litter” Law has been enacted.

• The “Lawn Litter Law” allows residents of Queens and the City of New York to place a sign on their property to stop the incessant and unwanted literature and advertisements unscrupulously left on their property.

"Three-Men-In-A-Room" Eliminate Northeast Queens Nature and Historical Preservation Commission

The Northeast Queens Nature and Historical Preservation Commission has been eliminated by Governor Paterson, Speaker Silver and Senate Majority Leader Smith as a part of their 2009-2010 State Budget, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) said today. The commission, established by legislation sponsored by Padavan in 1973, is a citizen watchdog panel charged with protecting and preserving the Northeast Queens shoreline.
