Padavan Rejects Spitzer's Car Tax

Padavan and Concerned Residents of Jamaica Estates To Host Community Meeting on Feb. 28th

 New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) and the Concerned Residents of Jamaica Estates announced today that they will be hosting an important community meeting to discuss the recent developments surrounding the on-going building by St. John’s  University of a six-story, 485 student off-campus dorm on Henley Road.

 The meeting will take place at the Abigail Adams Elementary School, PS 131 located at 172nd Street and 84th Avenue in Jamaica Estates at 7:15 pm on Thursday February 28th.

Padavan Opposes Expansion VLT's In New York

 New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) voted against legislation in the State Senate yesterday that greatly expands gambling in Queens and throughout the state. Senator Padavan’s major point of opposition to the legislation is the establishment of over 4,500 new video lottery terminals (VLT’s) at Aqueduct Racetrack. Revenue from these VLT’s will help fund a $105 million bankruptcy bailout for the New York Racing Association.

Padavan, Senate Pass E-STOP Legislation

 Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) and the New York State Senate today passed comprehensive legislation that would increase and enhance protections for all New Yorkers and children from dangerous sex predators on the Internet. The legislation entitled the Electronic Security and Targeting of Online Predators Act (e-STOP) passed with bipartisan support and now awaits action in the State Assembly.

 The legislation was developed in conjunction with Attorney General Andrew Cuomo and has been endorsed by all five New York City District Attorneys.

Padavan Strongly Opposes Expansion Of Gambling In Governor's Executive Budget

 New York Senator Frank Padavan (Queens), the New York State Legislature’s leading opponent of gambling, strongly opposes the massive increase in gambling provisions in the 2008-09 Executive Budget. Padavan's Anti-Human Trafficking Law In Effect

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) announced today that his anti-human trafficking law which was signed by Governor Spitzer on June 6th, 2007 is now in effect as of January 1, 2008. The comprehensive new law will increase criminal penalties for individuals who engage in human and sex trafficking while providing victims the vital resources and support they need to assist them in recovering from the crime.
