National Art League Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On Sunday September 13, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) attended the ribbon cutting ceremony unveiling the new renovations at the National Art League in Douglaston.  Senator Padavan secured major capital grants to help make the renovations possible. The National Art League is an organization of professional artists and art students who seek to advance their artistic skills and works. Established in 1930, the National Art League has grown to now include 300 artists as a part of the organization.

National Estuaries Day At APEC

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined members of the Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC) and local environmental enthusiasts at a day-long event to mark National Estuaries Day on Saturday, September 26, 2009.  Established in 1988, National Estuaries Day seeks to foster awareness regarding the importance of estuaries and wetlands and the increased need to protect and preserve them throughout the country.

Padavan Installs New Officers Of Auburndale Improvement Association

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) recently installed the new officers of the Auburndale Improvement Association during their annual installation of officers meeting. The new board members took their oath of office during a brief ceremony at the Reception House in Flushing. Senator Padavan administers the oath of office to new Auburndale Improvement Association President Terri Pouymari at their annual installation of officers meeting at the Reception House on September 15th, 2009.

Record Crowds At The 27th Annual Queens County Fair

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined a record breaking crowd over the weekend at the 27th Annual Queens County Fair at the Queens County Farm Museum in Floral Park. The annual event allows families and residents from throughout the Queens community and metro area to enjoy the rich history of New York State’s oldest continuously operating farm in a county fair atmosphere. Fairgoers throughout the weekend enjoyed carnival rides, band performances and competitions for crafts and agricultural.

Padavan Attends Special Preview of QCC's Kupferberg Holocaust Resource Center and Archives

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) was on hand for the special preview of the Harriet and Kenneth Kupferberg Holocaust Resource Center and Archives at Queensborough Community College in Bayside. The 7,000 square foot center will serve as an education and research center and will honor and remember victims of the Holocaust. Padavan Attends Bayside Hills 9/11 Ceremony

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) joined with Bayside residents to pay tribute and honor those lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. Deepdale Gardens Community Council Annual Blood Drive

Senator Padavan (Queens) honored the Deepdale Gardens Community Council, Inc. of Little Neck, during their annual blood drive held on August 9th at the Samuel Field Y. The Deepdale Gardens Community Council’s annual blood drive is the largest one-day drive in New York City. The drive attracts more than 200 donors and is done in partnership with the New York Hospital of Queens. Padavan presents the Deepdale Community Council members with a Senate Proclamation honor the Councils contributions to the community and commending them for their annual blood drive.

Fort Totten Troop Family Support Day

On Sunday August 16th, Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) was on-hand at Fort Totten for Family Support Day. The event was for troops and family members of 237th Maintenance Battalion stationed at Fort Totten in Bayside.  The 237th Battalion Unit was instrumental in 9/11 related efforts and have served in both Afghanistan and Iraq. The event included a full BBQ and entertainment throughout the afternoon. During the event, Boy Scout Kevin Wong was recognized for his successful troop care package drive which has helped provide troop serving overseas with the comfort of home.

Democrat's State Budget Increase DMV Fees Starting Today

Continuing the pile on from the disastrous 2009-2010 State Budget enacted by Democrats in both houses of the State Legislature and Governor Paterson, New Yorkers who drive a car, truck or any motor vehicle will be paying more with increased Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) fees which will take effect starting today.  Most of the fees are increased by 25 percent on motor vehicles across the state.

Senate Passes Padavan's NYC School Governance Legislation

The New York State Senate today passed legislation sponsored by Senator Frank Padavan (S.5887) that extends and improves mayoral control of New York City schools. The legislation now goes to Governor Paterson where he is expected to sign it into law before the start of the school year.

Padavan Honors New Eagle Scout

On Saturday June 20, 2009 New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) honored a pair of two new Eagle Scouts during separate Court of Honor ceremonies in Little Neck and Flushing.  In keeping with his long-standing tradition of honoring young leaders in the community, Padavan presented each Eagle Scout with the New York State Senate Medal of Outstanding Achievement and a Certificate of Merit in recognition of their accomplishment.
