Gun rights advocates 'lobby' Senator Maziarz

Cystic Fibrosis walk raises funds for research

Senator George Maziarz had the pleasure of meeting Elizabeth Kershaw during the Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis Walk in Lockport earlier this month, which raised more than $67,000 for research towards finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.  Senator Maziarz was a proud member of "Team Elizabeth."

Zach Murray has an interest in government and history

At the annual Mothers Day breast cancer walk in Lockport, Senator George Maziarz had the pleasure of meeting 9-year old Zach Murray of Newfane, a student in Mrs. Stickney's 4th grade class.  

Zach likes history, politics, and social studies.  He has read many books about the presidents, including Washington, Lincoln, Kennedy, and Reagan.  He would like to have a career in politics, and maybe run for president himself someday!

Senator Maziarz receives Honorary Empire Degree from NYS FFA Association

Last weekend the New York State FFA Association held its annual convention in Albion, New York.  During the festivities, which drew hundreds of young people from around the state, Senator George Maziarz was bestowed with an Honorary Empire Degree for all he has done to support agriculture and education.  The Empire Degree is the highest honor FFA students can earn at the state level.

Grand Opening of Little Wonders Early Childhood Development Center

Senator Maziarz attended the Grand Opening of Little Wonders Early Childhood Development Center in Niagara Falls.  This center is located next to Niagara Falls High School, allowing for convenient use by the teachers and students.  The program is open to the community and provides a very home-friendly environment.  The Center is located in the St. James United Methodist Church and is run by Administrator Rose Lynch.

The seat of Orleans County hosted a rally on Saturday afternoon in support of protecting the Second Amendment.  Senator George Maziarz, an opponent of the NY-SAFE Act, was invited to speak to the crowd of over 200 advocates.

Senator Maziarz attends YMCA capital campaign launch

On Friday, April 5, 2013, Senator George Maziarz stopped by the Orleans County YMCA in Medina for the launch of a capital campaign to renovate the historic Medina sandstone building to make it more user-friendly.  The plan calls for a handicap ramp, new entrance, lobby area, bathrooms, exercise room, child watch room, teen center, and more.

Arc of Orleans County Camp Rainbow Dedication

On Monday, July 16th, Senator Maziarz attended the Arc of Orleans dedication ceremony at Camp Rainbow in Lyndonville.  The new Marcy Pavilion was dedicated in memory of Marcy Mruczek-Basior, a former Camp Rainbow enthusiast and employee. Marcy Pavilion is inscribed with Marcy’s favorite quote from Pooh Bear, which reads “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

Senator Maziarz attends Nik Wallenda's Tightrope Walk Over Niagara Falls

Senator Maziarz had the honor of attending Nik Wallenda's traversing of Niagara Falls on June 15th.  Joined by 4,000 people on Goat Island and thousands on the Canadian Side and television, Nik successfully became the first person to walk directly over the Horseshoe Falls.
