Senator Maziarz today spoke at the Remembrance Ceremony for Henrietta Magner, a founder of Opportunities Unlimited, who passed away last year. Mrs. Magner was chosen by Senator Maziarz as a NYS Senate Woman of Distinction in 2005. A memorial bench was dedicated in her honor.
Senator George Maziarz recently led a discussion with concerned North Tonawanda and Wheatfield residents about the placement of sex offenders in their community. At the meeting, Senator Maziarz announced that the New York State Division of Parole will no longer place sex offenders at the B Cozy Motel on Niagara Falls Boulevard.
On September 11, after a full day of 9-11 remembrance ceremonies, Senator George Maziarz stopped by the annual awards dinner for the Orleans County Chamber of Commerce. The Hospice of Orleans booth at the recent Orleans County 4-H Fair attracted many members of the community. The booth, which was staffed by more than 20 volunteers, gave visitors the opportunity to learn more about the services offered by Hospice of Orleans. The “Back to School” basket raffle was very popular and the winning ticket, entered by Krissy Haisch, was drawn by long time friend of Hospice, Senator George Maziarz.

On Sunday, June 13, Senator Maziarz attended the awards ceremony for the 5th Annual Orleans County Lake Ontario Pro-Am Tournament at the Orleans County Marine Park near Point Breeze. This popular event highlights the wonderful sportsfishing opportunities found along the Orleans County lakeshore. Senator Maziarz enjoyed the opportunity to show 4th grade students from North Tonawanda Catholic School around the Concourse in Albany on May 12, 2010. Located below the Empire State Plaza, the Concourse is an underground mall connecting key buildings such as the Capitol, Legislative Office Building, State Agency Buildings, and the New York State Museum.
Senator George Maziarz stopped by the 30th anniversary party for Dunn Tower II. The popular residence for active seniors, which opened in 1980 adjacent to Dunn Tower I, is located on Spencerport Road (Route 31) in the Town of Gates.
Senator Maziarz recently attended a presentation at the New York Power Authority Frederick R. Clark Energy Center in Marcy. The presentation included information on the NYPA Energy Control Center which monitors all NYPA facilities in New York.
