Maziarz and Ceretto work to protect public health in Wheatfield and beyond; Legislators call for the revocation of DEC permits for Quasar

State Sen. George Maziarz (R,C,I-Newfane) and Assemblyman John Ceretto (R,C,I-Lewiston) are working to protect the health of Wheatfield residents and the surrounding communities by asking the DEC to revoke permits that allow the Quasar Energy Group to dump an industrial byproduct called equate on land in Western New York. Brunner to expand in Orleans County

Brunner International near Medina is embarking on a multi-million dollar expansion project with support from Empire State Development (ESD) and the Orleans Economic Development Agency. The $10 million venture will include construction of a new 48,000-square foot building at Brunner's Bates Road site, and will create up to 35 new jobs and retain 363 jobs. Brunner, which is a leading international producer of components for heavy-duty truck and trailers, chose to expand its current operations in New York State rather than relocate to other out-of-state locations.

Legislature approves "National Popular Vote" bill to empower New York voters in presidential elections

Senator George D. Maziarz is pleased to announce that legislation he cosponsored to make New York State more relevant in presidential elections was approved in both chambers of the Legislature by overwhelming margins yesterday. 

The “National Popular Vote” bill (S.3149-A/A.4422-A) would allow New York to enter into an interstate agreement through which all member states would award their electoral votes to the presidential candidate who wins the nationwide popular vote.

Senator Maziarz urges federal action to stop Asian Carp invasion

Senator George Maziarz, New York State’s executive committee member on the interstate Great Lakes Legislative Caucus, today sent the attached letter to the United States Army Corps of Engineers urging federal action to halt the spread of Asian Carp into the Great Lakes.  The Asian Carp is an invasive species that currently poses a tremendous threat to the ecology of native species within Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, and other nearby freshwater resources.

Sporting license changes take effect on February 1, 2014

Niagara Falls hospital receives grant to help serve vulnerable populations

Senator George D. Maziarz (R-C, Newfane) is pleased to announce that Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has been awarded $456,635 through the Vital Access/Safety Net Provider Program (VAP).  The VAP, which is administered by the New York State Department of Health, is designed to help enhance health care access for vulnerable populations including frail, elderly, and low-income persons.

Three flood recovery assistance bills pass Senate
