Marcia B. Tuohey

Marcia B. Tuohey, a lifelong Medina resident, has blazed a trail in business and politics for the women of Orleans County. She exemplifies someone who has created a lasting legacy of dedicated service to the public and the community in which she lives.

Ms. Tuohey enjoyed an active business career in Medina for 30 years as the co-owner and operator of a nursing home, motel and restaurant, mobile home park, and rental properties. Her success can be attributed to a great aptitude for recognizing and meeting the needs of the community, and possessing a strong work ethic.

Matthew Buczkowski Eagle Scout Court of Honor

Senator Maziarz recently attended Matthew Buczkowski’s (Troop 4, Iroquois Council) Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony.  Matthew received the highest award presented by the Boy Scouts of America after finishing his Eagle project, which focused on replacing the fencing along the bottom portions of backstops at two Lockport Little League baseball diamonds.

Margaret Gill

After growing up in North Tonawanda and earning a nursing degree in Buffalo, Margaret Gill enlisted in the US Army in May 1941.  In the immediate aftermath of the Allied invasion on D-Day, Margaret and her fellow nurses established a field hospital in Normandy for General Patton’s Third Army and operated there for several months.  On Christmas morning, the hospital was moved to Bastogne where it was under constant enemy fire.  The camp had only three walls and no roof, but continued to treat wounded soldiers in the cold and in the snow.  Margaret later was assigned to the 60th Division and treated victims of the infamous Dachau concentration camp upon its liberation.

Christa Caldwell

Christa Caldwell, a respected resident of the City of Lockport, has exempli­fied the virtues of community service throughout her life and has made lasting contributions to organizations and institutions on behalf of the public good.

Retiring as Director of the Lockport Public Library in 1996 after serving in that role for 15 years, Ms. Caldwell was credited with many accomplishments to better serve patrons, including the computerization of library materials, a multi-million dollar building addition, and impressive fundraising. She continues to care deeply about library services and now serves as President of the NIOGA Library System Board of Trustees.
