Household Hazardous Waste Collection Site in Niagara Falls officially opened.

Senator George Maziarz is joined by county leaders as the Niagara County Refuse Disposal District's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Site in Niagara Falls is officially opened on Saturday. From left, Sen. Maziarz, Legislator John Ceretto, Legislator Vince Sandonato, and Rick Pope, director of the Niagara County Refuse Disposal District. The disposal site is one of three around the county. Residents will be able to bring household chemicals, paint, stains solvents, and cleaning products to the site for disposal by appointment.

Lawmakers call for extending public comment period on proposed CWM expansion

Senator George Maziarz, Assemblyman John Ceretto, and Assemblywoman Jane Corwin have sent a letter to the Commissioner of the New York State Department of Conservation urging that the 60-day public comment period on the CWM hazardous waste landfill expansion that begins today be extended to 120-days.  A copy of the letter is attached.


CWM comment period extended; public hearing scheduled

In early May, Senator George Maziarz and his legislative colleagues wrote to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to call on that state agency to extend the public comment period on CWM’s expansion proposal by an additional sixty days.  Today the DEC announced they will heed this request and push back the deadline for the public to submit written comments from early July to September 5, 2014.
