Highlighting sportsfishing in Lake Ontario

On Sunday, June 13, Senator Maziarz attended the awards ceremony for the 5th Annual Orleans County Lake Ontario Pro-Am Tournament at the Orleans County Marine Park near Point Breeze.  This popular event highlights the wonderful sportsfishing opportunities found along the Orleans County lakeshore.  In this photo Senator Maziarz poses with County Legislator Ken Rush, County Legislature Chairman Dave Callard, Tournament Director Gene Christopher, and Pro-Am Coordinators Bob Cinelli and Dave Turner.

Crossbow hunting in New York State

Senator George Maziarz (R-C, Newfane) is pleased to announce that the State Senate has given final passage to legislation (S.6793-B) he co-sponsored to allow for hunting with crossbows in New York State.


New fishing access on Niagara River

Senator Maziarz joined local officials on this gray and rainy morning to dedicate a new fishing pier in North Tonawanda's Gratwick-Riverside Park along the Niagara River.  Funding was obtained from the Niagara River Greenway Commission to complete the project.

Crossbows to be introduced for hunting in New York State

Senator George Maziarz (R-C, Newfane) is pleased to announce that crossbows will be introduced into New York hunting circles now that Governor Paterson has signed into law legislation (S.6793-B) the Newfane lawmaker has long sponsored.


Meeting with sportsmen and sportswomen

Shooting tournament held in Hartland

Last weekend Senator Maziarz had the pleasure of visiting the Iroquois Trail Council's Shooting Sports Tournament held at the Hartland Conservation Club.  This event gives Boy Scouts the opportunity to compete against their peers safely in the shooting sports.  They even let their state senator get a little trigger time!

Wilson Conservation Club Crossbow Demonstration


Senator Maziarz attended the Wilson Conservation Club's crossbow demonstration on June 2nd, which was held at the organization's beautiful facilities on Wilson-Cambria Road. Several manufacturers were on hand to demonstrate their products, and Senator Maziarz was given the opportunity to sample the bows. Well known as an avid sportsmen-rights advocate, Senator Maziarz recently sponsored legislation which will establish a crossbow hunting season in New York State. 


Point Breeze is the Ultimate Fishing Town

Senator George Maziarz joined local officials in celebrating the news that Point Breeze has won a contest to be named the "Ultimate Fishing Town" by the World Fishing Network.  In addition to being featured on the network, a prize of $25,000 has been awarded to support local fishing programs.  From left: Assemblyman Steve Hawley, business owner Sharon Narburgh, Senator George Maziarz, town councilwoman Joyce Harris, and Orleans County Sportsfishing Coordinator Mike Waterhouse.

Sporting license changes take effect on February 1, 2014

On February 1, 2014, several sporting license changes go into effect that will save hunters and anglers time and money.  The changes, adopted in last year’s state budget, include reduced license fees, reduced license types, changes to license dates, and more.
