Thirty-four World War II veterans from Western New York are being flown to Washington, DC to visit the World War II Memorial and other area monuments and memorials. None of them have yet visited the memorial dedicated to the war they helped win. The World War II Memorial was completed in 2004.
Senator George Maziarz was the guest speaker at the 235th United States Marine Corps Birthday Ball on November 13, 2010 in North Tonawanda. Several individuals were recognized for 60+ years membership with Conrad Kania Detachment, Marine Corps League. Semper Fidelis!
Earlier this year, the State Legislature approved a bill (S.6277-A/A.9939-A) designating all of State Route 62 in New York State as the National Veterans Highway. The measure was signed into law by Governor David Paterson on July 30, 2010.

The Orleans County American Legion is part of the 8th District and includes: Sheret Post #35 in Albion, Butts-Clark Post #204 in Medina, Jewell-Buckman Post #529 in Holley, and Houseman-Tanner Post #1603 in Lyndonville.
