"First I want to again thank the constituents of the 62nd District for allowing me the opportunity to serve them again this year in the New York State Senate. Last year, under the leadership of the Senate Majority and of Governor Andrew Cuomo, we accomplished a great deal, including an early budget, enacted property tax caps and reduced tax rates on the middle class. While last year was a success, there is still a great deal to be done to keep this State moving in the right direction.
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo received the Energy Highway Task Force's Blueprint, a comprehensive plan that will add up to 3,200 megawatts of electric generation and transmission capacity and clean power generation at his Cabinet Meeting on Monday. ELIMINATING TAXES ON MANUFACTURERS: Over a three year period, the legislation would provide manufacturers throughout New York State with $495 million in tax relief – phasing out the taxes they pay under the State’s Corporate Franchise Tax and Personal Income Tax. The first phase will begin for tax years beginning on January 1, 2013. This will save manufacturers $114 million in SFY 2012-13 and $495 million when fully phased in.
