Senator Maziarz welcomes Bob Ortt home to NT

Army 1st Lt. Robert Ortt accepts thanks and well wishes from Sen. George D. Maziarz Wednesday night at the Stephen Sikora American Legion Post in North Tonawanda. Ortt, the city of North Tonawanda's treasurer, is an officer in the National Guard who was deployed to Afghanistan in January. Wednesday, the North Tonawanda community and a number of local and county leaders welcomed Ortt, who is on two weeks' leave from the war-torn region, home. They also listened to a detailed address on conditions in Afghanistan.

Take A Stand Against Racism With Senator Maziarz!

Senator George Maziarz invites the public to stop by his district office on Friday, April 3, 2009 to sign a Pledge Against Racism.  This event is part of the Stand Against Racism movement being led by YWCAs across the northeast, including the YWCA of the Tonawandas.

            “The fact that racism still exists in many communities should not be ignored or tolerated,” Senator Maziarz said.  “The Stand Against Racism movement will help raise awareness and encourage positive social change.”

Senator Maziarz Celebrates Liberty Day at Oak Orchard Elementary School

State Senator George Maziarz, Assemblyman Steve Hawley, and Congressman Chris Lee’s representative Nick Langworthy joined 150 fourth grade social studies students at Oak Orchard Elementary School in Medina for the Medina Lions Club sponsored Liberty Day Project.  The purpose of the project is to bring representatives from each branch of government into the classroom to teach students about the United States Constitution.

'KARI ANN GORMAN ACT' INTRODUCED BY SENATOR MAZIARZ

Senator George Maziarz has introduced legislation requiring that New York State schools add dating-violence education to their health curriculum (A.819/S.2537). The measure was prompted by the July 2008 murder of 18-year-old Kari Ann Gorman of Wilson, N.Y. Gorman was shot and killed by her boyfriend of eight months.
