Join Senator Maziarz’s efforts to protect your tax dollars!

Yes Senator, I agree with you that public assistance should not be used to purchase items such as alcohol, lottery tickets and cigarettes, and by signing this petition I encourage the State Assembly to pass the Public Assistance Integrity Act.

The Public Assistance Integrity Act (S.966) was approved on February 4, 2014 in the State Senate by a wide margin.  It was also passed in the Senate in 2012 and 2013.

Sporting license changes take effect on February 1, 2014

On February 1, 2014, several sporting license changes go into effect that will save hunters and anglers time and money.  The changes, adopted in last year’s state budget, include reduced license fees, reduced license types, changes to license dates, and more.

Niagara Falls hospital receives grant to help serve vulnerable populations

Senator George D. Maziarz (R-C, Newfane) is pleased to announce that Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has been awarded $456,635 through the Vital Access/Safety Net Provider Program (VAP).  The VAP, which is administered by the New York State Department of Health, is designed to help enhance health care access for vulnerable populations including frail, elderly, and low-income persons.

Ogden Farmers' Library thanks Senator Maziarz for funding assistance

Director John Cohen and the staff at the Ogden Farmers' Library recently sent a note and photograph to Senator George Maziarz thanking him for help in obtaining funds to purchase and install new computers.  These new computers replace outdated ones that were ten years old.  Patrons will surely benefit from the up-to-date equipment.

At a gathering in her honor, Rita Grosser was celebrated for her 22 years of faithful service as a library clerk at the Community Free Library in Holley.  Senator George Maziarz and Assemblyman Steve Hawley presented her with citations on the occasion of her retirement.

Three flood recovery assistance bills pass Senate

Senator George D. Maziarz, (R-C, Newfane) is pleased to announce that three bills he is co-sponsoring to provide financial assistance to municipalities and residents affected by excessive flood damage in Niagara County in the early summer of 2013 were approved on Monday, January 27, 2014 by the New York State Senate.

Power line upgrades must move forward, Senator Maziarz says

People use electricity in their homes and businesses every day and, since electrical power has been available to most of us for our entire lives, we also tend to take it for granted. Most people only think about the energy that powers their home once a month when they pay their utility bills, and in that case their typical question is, “why is my bill so high?”

New radio tower underway in Orleans County

This week Orleans County officials launched the construction of a new radio tower in Albion to improve emergency communications.  Additional towers are going up in Medina and Clarendon.  Complementing the important project are new radios for first responders.

Eastern Niagara Hospital creating new ambulatory surgical center in Lockport

Eastern Niagara Hospital is creating an ambulatory surgery center on Transit Road in Lockport to better serve local residents in outpatient setting.  The facility will have four surgical suites as well as pre-operative areas, recovery, and support functions.  Anticipated specialities include orthopedics, plastic/ reconstructive surgery, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, and general surgery.  Today marked the construction kick-off for the $3 million project.  Congratulations to ENH on this expansion!

Report identifies over 2,000 state rules and regulations that need to be reformed to spur economic development

The New York State Senate Majority Coalition issued a comprehensive report today that sheds light on New York State’s notoriously dense regulatory structure and identifies 2,219 specific rules, regulations and practices that put New York’s businesses at a competitive disadvantage.

The report is the product of surveys, meetings, community outreach and the input of over 100 business owners, advocacy organizations and individuals that participated in one of nine industry-specific public forums conducted throughout the State.
