Senator Maziarz is pleased to announce a partnership with Walmart, who have provided $20,000 in funding to take World War II Veterans to Washington DC to visit the World War II Memorial. The funding provided will cover the entire cost of the trip so that it is entirely free for Veterans. This will be the fourth trip the Senator has taken to Washington DC, which will be on October 17th. While there, the Veterans visit the World War II Memorial, Vietnam and Korean Memorials, and Arlington National Cemetary.
Senator Maziarz had the honor of attending Nik Wallenda's traversing of Niagara Falls on June 15th. Joined by 4,000 people on Goat Island and thousands on the Canadian Side and television, Nik successfully became the first person to walk directly over the Horseshoe Falls.

The New York State Senate passed a law this week which gives courts the ability to consider a greater number of issues–including victims’ safety—when setting bail. The bill (S.259), sponsored by Senator George Maziarz, also known as “Jilly’s Law”, is named for Jill Cahill who was killed in 1998.Jill Cahill, of Onondaga County, was in the process of trying to divorce her husband, Jeff Cahill, when he attacked her with a baseball bat, striking her more than seven times and nearly killing her.
On Monday April 9th, Senator Maziarz presented funding to City of Lockport officials which will provide grants to downtown businesses. This funding was secured through the New York State Office of Community Renewal and will be provided to over 15 businesses in downtown Lockport.
