John Drago

John “Jack” Drago was born on February 23, 1933 to Louis and Anna Drago. A lifelong Yonkers resident, Jack was a football standout at Roosevelt High School and voluntarily enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17. Jack served three years during the Korean confl ict, during which he was awarded two bronze stars. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant First Class.

Kate Bialo

Kate Bialo is a true humanitarian who embodies the spirit of giving to others. The founder and executive director of Furniture Sharehouse, Westchester’s Furniture Bank, Ms. Bialo has been a resident of Westchester County for over 20 years. Her call to help those in need stemmed from being dismayed by all the usable furniture regularly discarded at the curb, knowing that there are many families who cannot afford a bed to sleep on or a table to share a family meal.

(Albany, NY) State Senator George Latimer has selected Larchmont resident Kate Bialo, Executive Director of Furniture Sharehouse as a 2013 NYS Senate Woman of Distinction. Furniture Sharehouse provides free furniture to economically disadvantaged individuals and families living in Westchester County, giving them the basic household furnishings that enable them to rebuild their lives and live with dignity.

Latimer Delivers Free Newspapers to Port Chester-Rye Brook Library

As part of his continual efforts to keep the public aware and informed of state issues, Senator George Latimer will continue to deliver The Legislative Gazette, a free, weekly publication that is distributed in Albany to the Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library.  Senator George Latimer said, 'It is easy for elected officials to trumpet their own accomplishments in Albany to their constituents but our role as advocates is to present people with objective information and give them the ability to make the most informed decisions about public policy and other state issues.'
