GOV SIGNS BILL TO RIGHT-SIZE GOVERNMENT; ELIMATE MT. KISCO PUBLIC AUTHOIRTY

 

Brewster, N.Y. – (7/30/12) – The first successful step in the state’s effort to shrink government was taken today, as legislation abolishing the Mount Kisco Urban Renewal Agency became law. This will streamline the process for approving new businesses in Mount Kisco, and save local taxpayers money, according to the law’s authors.

LOHUD: NEW LEGISLATION WILL ELIMINATE GOVERNMENT BUREAUCRACY IN MOUNT KISCO

Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation this week that abolishes the Mount Kisco Urban Renewal Agency, which was created in the 1970s. GOP Sen. Greg Ball of Patterson and Assemblyman Robert Castelli, R-Goldens Bridge, described the public authority as “moribund” and an “unnecessary layer of bureaucracy which has stymied local development … by forcing the Village Board to act as the Agency, and perform a duplicative function to the Planning Board.”

THE PATCH: BREWSTER LITTLE LEAGUE RECEIVES $95,000 GRANT

Officials with the Brewster Little League (BLL) are hoping to upgrade Volunteer Park with a recently-secured grant.

Sen. Greg Ball (R, C — Patterson) presented a check Sunday afternoon. He said in a statement that he “made a pledge” to the organization to obtain money that could go toward rebuilding the field, which sits off Zimmer Road in Southeast.

THE EXAMINER: SENATOR THANKS THOSE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO FIRST RESPONDER EVENT

 

On Saturday, July 7, I had the privilege of hosting the 1stAnnual First Responders Appreciation Day event at beautiful Camp Kiwi in Carmel, NY in honor of all of our Police Officers, Firefighters, Emergency Medical Service Workers, Correction Officers, Court Officers, Veterans and their families.

I’d like to personally thank VA Hudson Valley Health Care System for merging their Welcome Home Event with the First Responders Appreciation Day and for bringing their Mobile Outreach Mobile for so that onsite evaluations could be offered to the Veterans. They provided comprehensive information about Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits and VA Health care services, as well as the supportive services for families and/or significant others; and services of the OEF-OIF-OND program (Returning Veterans Program).
