Albany, N.Y. – (5/29/12) – Today, Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) announced the NEW JOBS-NY Job Creation Plan. The New York State Senate’s comprehensive plan (S.7448) will help create thousands of new private sector jobs by delivering tax relief to small businesses and manufacturers, reducing energy costs, and enacting major fiscal reforms to make New York State more economically competitive.
The New York State Senate today welcomed cadets and staff from the United States Military Academy at West Point as part of an annual day of recognition. In honor of the celebration, the Senate passed several bills focusing on helping veterans obtain jobs and protect their rights.
Governor Cuomo is being praised by some, including the New York Times, for acting alone and creating a health care exchange by executive order. The exchange is part of the 2012 federal Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. And until the Supreme Court rules on the constitutionality of the law, Senator Greg Ball thinks it’s a bad idea for the state to move forward with implementing it.
