Woman of Distinction From The Town of Beekman, Ruth Hogan

Born on July 30, 1924 and raised in Dutchess County, Ruth Hogan (nee Alley) grew up on a farm in Fishkill Plains. She moved to the Town of Beekman in 1946, ran a Dairy Farm with her husband Bob from 1948-1964. She was a registered nurse, employed by Arlington School District. While employed as the school nurse teacher she returned to school and earned her Bachelor’s Degree. She served as Vice Principal at LaGrange Elementary School. Prior to the founding of the Beekman Rescue Squad residents frequently “went to Ruth Hogan” if they had an emergency. The Beekman Rescue Squad was founded by Ruth, Helen “Ruby” Woodin and Bob Jaeger. She volunteered her time to the Rescue Squad for many years and earned several awards.
