Chairman Ball Urges Action on Honor Deserving of New York Veterans
Carmel, N.Y. – (07/21/11) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson), Chairman of the Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, held a meeting in Putnam County to get the word out about legislation(S5381A/A1386A) that would create a State Veterans Cemetery in New York. The informational meeting, which was held at the Spain Memorial Cornerstone Park in Carmel, N.Y., was designed to educate the public about the legislation, as well as the United States Veterans Cemetery Grant Program.
With the recent cuts to federal funding for state homeland security efforts, New York’s National Guard and state government must evaluate how they will continue to provide protection from possible terrorist attacks.

Griffo (R-Rome) to meet and discuss New York state homeland security issues. Senator Griffo and Senator Ball are members of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, of which Senator Ball serves as the committee’s chairman.

State Senators Joseph A. Griffo (R-47 ) yesterday, hosted a visit from Senator Greg Ball (R-40), who was on hand to visit facilities in Oneida County and meet to discuss New York State homeland security.
The state Senate today passed a bill that will increase penalties for those using credit cards to fund terrorist activities. Sponsored by state Sen. Greg Ball, R-Patterson, the new legislation makes it a more serious felony for those “soliciting or providing support for an act of terrorism” where “the soliciting or providing involves the use of a credit card.”
