Ball: It is time for the voters to hold their elected officials accountable
BREWSTER, NY (1/30/2011) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson), the Senate Majority representative on Governor Cuomo’s Savings and Government Efficiency Commission, today urged voters throughout New York State to call their Senators and Assemblymen on Monday to urge bi-partisan support and immediate passage of a 2% Property Tax Cap for local governments and school districts, as well as mandate relief that requires the state to fund the additional net costs of any state mandated programs. Ball co-sponsors the two bills, which will come to a vote on the floor of the Senate on Monday and has the support of the Senate Majority Conference.
"We have a Senate Majority who gets it, and a Governor who seems to get it. Now it is time for the voters to hold their elected officials accountable for the promises made during their campaigns and demand widespread, bi-partisan support for the passage of this 2% Property Tax Cap, as well as Mandate Reform. That bi-partisan support needs to be immediate because these reforms are needed immediately," Ball said. “Working families, small businesses, and seniors are struggling and the American Dream of homeownership has become a nightmare for many. None of us milked the cows before coming to Albany today, and we’re not going home tonight to slop the hogs. Yet, we still have a property tax model based on generating income from a family farm.”
