Since being notified, we have been reviewing all previous work done by the individual. Measures taken include terminating the employment of the employee responsible. HUDSON VALLEY REPORTER: PEEKSKILL CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT RECEIVES STATE FUNDING FOR PRE-K PROGRAM

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. –  The Peekskill City School District has received received $171,154 in state funding to start a Peekskill Priority Pre-K Program (4P Program).

The 4Ps Program will create one new full-day inclusion class and will convert two half-day classes to full-day classes, creating a total of three new full-day placements, which will serve a total of 60 children. The class schedules will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. Arc of Westchester’s Children’s School for Early Development, which will receive 10 percent of grant funds as a purchased service, will provide aid in staffing the inclusion class.

LOHUD: CUOMO’S PLAN TO EDUCATE PRISONERS FACES OPPOSITION FROM LAWMAKERS

ALBANY — Some state lawmakers Tuesday criticized Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s plan to use public money to fund college for prisoners.

Cuomo has faced opposition to his proposal announced Sunday to spend up to $5,000 an inmate to help them achieve a college degree. Cuomo said the program would cut down on recidivism and ultimately lower the roughly $60,000 a year it costs to house a prisoner.

‘Hell No To Attica University’ : No Free College Education For Convicts

Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced a plan that would provide college-level education at 10 state prisons, at a cost to taxpayers of about $5,000 per inmate per year. There are an estimated 54,500 inmates currently confined in state prisons.

The last thing New York State should be funding is college tuition for convicts when we have hardworking families in New York State that are struggling to send their children to college.
