NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – North Salem’s latest Girl Scout Gold Award honorees, Linda DosSantos and Kelsey Goslin, received unusual rewards to commemorate their accomplishments. Each girl was given an American flag that had flown atop Washington’s Capitol building on her birthday.

New York State Driver Licenses to Identify Veterans 

Brewster, N.Y. – (8/09/12) –Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) sponsored S6799, this bill will require that New York State Drivers Licenses or Identification Cards indicate the card holder is a veteran of the armed forces. To gain this distinct honor, veterans must present proof of veteran’s status, such as a certificate of release or discharge from active duty, including, but not limited to, a DD Form 214 or other proof satisfactory to the Commissioner.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation this week that abolishes the Mount Kisco Urban Renewal Agency, which was created in the 1970s. GOP Sen. Greg Ball of Patterson and Assemblyman Robert Castelli, R-Goldens Bridge, described the public authority as “moribund” and an “unnecessary layer of bureaucracy which has stymied local development … by forcing the Village Board to act as the Agency, and perform a duplicative function to the Planning Board.”

THE PATCH: BREWSTER LITTLE LEAGUE RECEIVES $95,000 GRANT

Officials with the Brewster Little League (BLL) are hoping to upgrade Volunteer Park with a recently-secured grant.

Sen. Greg Ball (R, C — Patterson) presented a check Sunday afternoon. He said in a statement that he “made a pledge” to the organization to obtain money that could go toward rebuilding the field, which sits off Zimmer Road in Southeast.
