Albany, N.Y. – (5/22/12) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson), Chairman of the Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, honored Croton-on-Hudson resident, Eugene Parrotta, at the annual New York State Senate Veteran’s Hall of Fame event in Albany, NY.
Mention Flavio Benini to those who knew him and they will list his significant accomplishments. These memories include his World War II service in the Philippines, in which he worked to detect landmines and was severely wounded. They also include a time in the 1950s, when as a Mount Kisco police officer, he pulled a woman out of a vehicle that was stuck on railroad tracks and was in danger of being hit by an oncoming train.

At the ceremony Senator Ball announced that Croton-on-Hudson resident, Eugene Parrotta will be his nominee for the 2012 New York State Veterans’ Hall of fame.
SOMERS, N.Y. – State Sen. Greg Ball (R-Patterson) has enlisted some dogs to gather support for legislation he proposed to improve the health and quality of life of animals by providing licensed pet dealers with updated standards of care.
A recipient of the Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam and a retired member of Laborers Local 79 in New York City, Specialist Fourth Class Parrotta was born on January 1, 1947 in New York City, and served in the United States Army.
Specialist Fourth Class Parrotta volunteers his time as the Chairman of the Veterans Advocacy Council (VAC) at the Montrose FDR VA Campus and the Castle Point VA Campus. He recently secured 23 affordable veterans-only housing units at the new Round Top housing complex in Montrose.
Specialist Fourth Class Parrotta is the second among three consecutive family generations to see combat as a member of the United State military.
Yorktown, N.Y. – (5/11/12) Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson), successfully secured $50,000 for the Yorktown & Lakeland Central School Districts, which will be used to pay for Athletic Medical and Safety Equipment.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s announcement this week that he wants to strengthen the safety net for New Yorkers with disabilities ensures legislators will be busy through the June 21 end of the session. They should be mindful not to let other important initiatives, such as tightening regulations on New York’s dog-breeding operations, get lost in the shuffle.
