Senator Ball Announces Purple Heart “Forever” Stamp

ALBANY, NY (5/4/2011) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs, joined Senator William Larkin, Jr. (R, C – Cornwall-On-Hudson), to announce that the U.S. Postal Service has classified the Purple Heart postage stamp as a “Forever” stamp, guaranteeing that the stamp will remain in circulation.

Prior to the “Forever” classification, each postage increase jeopardized the continued circulation of the Purple Heart stamp.

Senator Ball Visits Opening Day in Lewisboro

SOUTH SALEM, NY (4/30/2011) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) visited Opening Day for Lewisboro’s Little League on Saturday at Lewisboro Town Park as part of his Concussion Management Awareness initiative.

Senator Ball co-sponsors S.3953, the Concussion Management and Awareness Act, which implements rules and regulations for the treatment and monitoring of youth athletes with mild traumatic brain injuries.

Senator Ball Speaks to Putnam Economic Development Corporation

 

MAHOPAC (4/27/2011) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) was a keynote speaker at the Putnam County Economic Development Corporation’s “Shop Putnam Business and Home Expo,” held at Villa Barone Hilltop Manor on Wednesday. 

During his address, Senator Ball announced an initiative in his office, headed by his Chief of Staff Jim Coleman, to identify and support economic development projects in each of his district’s 22 towns.

Senator Ball Visits Cabbage Hill Farm

MOUNT KISCO – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) visited Mount Kisco’s Cabbage Hill Farm to tour its hydroponics greenhouse.

Since first being elected to Albany as an Assemblyman in 2006, Senator Ball has fought for legislation to support small and mid-sized farms in New York, which give consumers the option to buy local. He has also been the prime sponsor of legislation to establish agricultural development zones.

Senator Greg Ball and Rob Astorino, Westchester County Executive: Fighting for the Repeal of the MTA Payroll Tax and Supporting a Full Forensic Audit of the MTA

 

YORKTOWN NY (April 27th 2011) Senator Greg Ball (R, C-Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess) was joined by Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, Westchester County Legislator John Testa and Yorktown Town Councilman Councilman Dr. Terrence Murphy (R, I – Jefferson Valley) at a press conference today to support Senator Ball’s legislation fully repealing the MTA payroll tax, and providing for an immediate full forensic accounting of the MTA.

 Senator Ball’s legislation S4716, exempts self-employed persons, localities, school districts and not for profit corporations from the MTA mobility tax. The Senator is also proposing legislation which will repeal the MTA taxes on school districts by the end of 2016. As well as a measure that will require the MTA to attend the majority of public hearings on fare hikes in order to cast a vote.

Chairman Ball Places Radio Interoperability on Presidents Desk

 

New York, NY (April 12, 2011) –Senator Greg Ball (R, 40th District –Westchester/Putnam/Dutchess), Chairman of the Veterans, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs Committee has sent a letter to the President of the United States, as well as all members of the U.S. Congress and officials from New York’s state security agencies  informing them of the Radio interoperability and communications system problems faced by New York’s first responders, nearly ten years after 9/11 exposed the weaknesses  of New York City’s emergency communication systems.

Chairman Ball Announces Historic Bill Banning Protests at Military Funerals

 

ALBANY, NY- Senator Greg Ball announced his support today for a Bill which would ban the ability of individuals and groups to protest at the funeral services of military personnel. The bill which is being Co-sponsored by Ball, along with Senator Zeldin, is an attempt to protect members of the military and their families from groups who in recent years have used military funerals as a platform to gain attention for themselves and their agendas. Senator Ball stated "I believe this bill will have unanimous support from our Majority Conference and will be an important and fitting tribute to all those serving in uniform, and especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. In coordination with my efforts to restore funding to our veterans homes this is one of many veterans bills that we will pass on this historic day and I ask New Yorkers to call upon the Assembly to do the same, immediately."

Senator Ball Calls for Independent Redistricting, Constitutional Change, It's Time to Keep Our Promise

 

ALBANY, NY – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) is embarking upon an effort to enlist all members in both houses to support what he calls, “real, lasting, and substantive changes to the current redistricting process” by supporting a bill amending the New York State Constitution to once and for all enact truly independent redistricting.

“Demographics and geography should decide district lines, not politics. The only real way to establish constitutional standards is by amending the constitution, the way our founders suggested, and make these changes permanent and constitutionally sound.”

Ann E. Ellsworth

Ann E. Ellsworth is the Executive Director of the Putnam/Northern Westchester Women’s Resource Center and is a licensed clinical social worker. Ms. Ellsworth completed her Master’s Degree at Hunter College School of Social Work in 1994. From 1989 through 2001, Ms. Ellsworth worked to provide homeless and mentally ill individuals with the opportunity to obtain and maintain housing while supporting them throughout the process. By the end of those 13 years, Ms. Ellsworth’s experience had driven her toward social work administration and toward the position of Director of Ivan Shapiro House, a community residence housing 55 formerly homeless, mentally ill men and women on the west side of Manhattan.
