LOHUD: SENATOR BALL ON SAFE ACT: “SEVEN-BULLET LIMIT WAS IDIOTIC AT BEST”

Sen. Greg Ball, R-Patterson, Putnam County, called a court ruling Tuesday that tossed a portion of New York’s gun-control law a “huge win for our constitutional freedoms.”

A federal judge ruled Tuesday that New York’s expanded ban on assault weapons is constitutional, however it cannot limit a magazine to seven bullets.

State. Sen. Greg Ball, chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs committees, joined the Mahopac VFW Post 5491 Ladies Auxiliary recently to deliver winter clothing to Hudson Valley veterans.

The Mahopac VFW Post 5491 Ladies Auxiliary delivered large bags of shirts, socks, underwear, sweaters, pajamas and more to the veterans at Castle Point VA Hospital.

Things We Read is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving soldiers deployed overseas.

HUDSON VALLEY REPORTER: VETERANS CLOTHING DRIVE SPREADS HOLIDAY JOY TO MONTROSE VA

MONTROSE, N.Y. – A clothing drive for veterans at both the Castle Point and Montrose VA hospitals will continue throughout the winter.

Dozens of bags and boxes of winter clothing already collected were delivered to the Montrose VA over the weekend by Sen. Greg Ball’s faith-based, veterans and student advisory councils. The donations included, shirts, pants, diabetic socks, underwear, warm coats, gloves, hats and shoes.

Volunteers donated, collected and distributed clothing at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Montrose on Dec. 20.

“During this Season of Giving we are mindful that there are many, many people who lack the basic necessities of life – food, shelter, and clothing. In 2012, our Veteran’s Hospitals served more than 240,000 Veterans who were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless- 21 percent more than the year before,” said Father Thomas Lutz, Chairman of state Senator Greg Ball’s Faith Based Advisory Council, in a written statement.
