DAILY VOICE: MID-HUDSON REGION GETS $60 MILLION IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FUNDING

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. — The Regional Economic Development Council granted $59.6 million for Mid-Hudson Region projects, Sen. Greg Ball (R,C, I-Patterson) announced recently.

The Mid-Hudson REDC is continuing a commitment to invest in technology, tourism, infrastructure revitalization and waterfront development, according to officials. The priority project focus in 2013 for the Council included job-creating projects in renewable energy and advanced manufacturing, projects to improve healthcare and wellness in the region, and boosting tourism by taking advantage of its proximity to major markets.

SENATOR GREG BALL PICKS UP CLOTHING AT OUR LADY OF LOURDES HIGH SCHOOL FOR MONTROSE VETERANS

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – 12/16/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson), Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, traveled to Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie to pick up clothing that was collected for a veterans winter clothing drive. The winter clothing will be delivered to Hudson Valley veterans that are in need of warm clothing.

Lourdes collected t-shirts, diabetic socks, underwear, warm coats, gloves and hats for residents at the Montrose Hudson Valley VA Hospital.

SENATOR GREG BALL JOINS PUTNAM COUNTY YOUTH COURT AT 26TH GRADUATION CEREMONY

Carmel, N.Y. – 12/13/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) joined 41 young adults on Wednesday evening at the Putnam County Youth Court 26th Graduation Ceremony.

Senator Ball honored each graduate with a New York State Senate Certificate of Merit for completing a 10-week training course and being sworn in as Putnam County Youth Court members.

SENATOR GREG BALL TO HOST COMMON CORE FORUM AT CARMEL TOWN HALL IN JANUARY

Brewster, N.Y. – 12/11/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) is inviting parents, teachers and concerned residents to attend a Common Core Forum at the Carmel Town Hall on January 16th at 6:00 PM.

Senator Greg Ball will be hosting the community forum to review the impact and effectiveness of the new Common Core Standards in New York State. The new standards were designed to provide a uniformed standard for students, preparing them for college and careers. However, many residents have raised concerns with the program and its implementation.

HUDSON VALLEY REPORTER: HUDSON VALLEY VETERANS’ CLOTHING DRIVE UNDERWAY

BREWSTER, N.Y. –  A clothing drive is being held for Hudson Valley veterans who are residents at the Montrose and Castle Point Hudson Valley Veterans Administration facilities.

State Senator Greg Ball is promoting the drive, and said  the veterans are in need to t-shirts, diabetic socks, underwear, warm coats, gloves and hats.

The submissions received are remarkable in what they represent – showing gratitude and respect for family, friends, our troops fighting overseas, and many other important subjects and activities. OP-ED: SENATOR GREG BALL THANKS COMMUNITY FOR VETERANS EVENTS

Over the last few months we hosted three large events all focused on saying ‘thank you’ to our veterans. In September, we hosted a bus trip allowing dozens of World War II veterans to visit the World War II Memorial built in their honor at the National Mall in Washington DC. In November, we hosted our third annual Veterans Hall of Fame, honoring 27 veterans for their service to our country and including them on a traveling Wall of Fame. Then most recently, we hosted the third annual Veterans Thanksgiving Dinner, where over 800 veterans and their guests were treated to a free Thanksgiving meal.

Ball, chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, recently announced that veterans at both the Montrose and Castle Point Hudson Valley VA Hospitals are in need of shirts, diabetic socks, underwear, warm coats, gloves and hats for the winter. Ball is mobilizing the Faith Based Advisory Council and Veterans Advisory Councils to host the clothing drive for Hudson Valley veterans that are in need of warm clothes this winter.

Carmel, N.Y. – (11/27/2013) – Senator Greg Ball attended the 70th Annual Cornell Cooperative Extension Annual Meeting at Centennial Golf Club in Carmel to honor two outgoing board of directors members with New York State Senate Proclamations. Senator Ball honored Suzanne Willis for three years of service and Richard Henke for seven years of service to Cornell Cooperative Extension. Patricia Madigan was also honored for 25 years of service.
